MHGC is a fairly standard parkland course – largely flat in nature and although quite short, the positioning of some of the hazards add to the test and help to make for an enjoyable round of golf. We used it as our team day, playing pairs and team games and felt the course worked ideally in that regard. I suspect if playing individually, that there would be good opportunity to score very well and bust your handicap. The course is fairly generous, aside from a couple of notably tight holes - 12th and 14th – both requiring very straight tee shots. The 6th ,7th and 8th holes all involve water which adds to the course’s character. \Off the course, the club couldn’t have been more welcoming – Mike and his team were incredibly helpful.

Course is good diary from 17 & 18 fairways cross and there is no signage to tell you where to go once you complete 17th hole. Am somewhat disgruntled by a lady member who approached us as visitors on the 18th hole to tell us we ruined her game, we were a 4 ball and there was a three ball behind us keeping pace but not overly pushing to play through and behind them was this two ball, including the lady member. We completed our round in a little over 4 hrs, not unreasonable for a four ball including a junior and feel the lady member has done a disservice to her club.

Greens slow today. A pretty, very pleasant, relatively easy course. You can attack but poor shots can be punished.

Greens were in excellent condition, but the tee boxes were a bit tired as we're some of the fairways. Facilities were good and staff were pleasant and attentive. Would definitely play again although at £30 a round this puts into competition with better standard courses!

I really enjoyed playing here. I arrived on my own for a 3.30 tee off which afforded me the twilight rate of £15. I changed in the really good quality, clean changing rooms, then as I was getting set up on the tee, a member arrived also on his own, so we paired up and he showed me round. He was terrific company and better than playing alone.

The course is not overly long, which suits me as a beginner. I was able to get the driver out maybe 9 or 10 times, but a more accomplished player would use it less. The course had lots of trees that were deceptively thick and required a chip back to the fairway. The bunkers were quite wet so firm and caused me some trouble. The greens were in good condition though had just been treated with something that got all over my hands and clubs. I don't know what it was but it wasn't nice.

There was a nice rhythm to the course. It didn't feel like there were any drags (ie runs of par 4s isn't there to make up the number). I particularly liked the par 3 15th, across some reeds and a pond to a slightly lowered green.

The clubhouse was closed when we finished (at around 6.30) which meant we couldn't get a drink and I had hoped to have dinner there, but it was not to be. There didn't appear to be any staff here at all at that time, and so nothing apparently stopping a late arrival playing for free.

The closed clubhouse, and the horrible stuff on the greens were the main downside, but it was great value and an interesting course for a player of my standard. Perhaps a good course for better players to improve their course management on, rather than a "bash it" course.
