We chose North Wales GC in our itinerary. Well traveled cat 2 golfers looking forward to the experience. The welcome in the Pro shop was weird/ ridiculous. He didn’t take his eyes off his laptop for the entire duration of our interaction after he made the delayed effort to acknowledge our obvious presence. Very rude, it wasn’t a pressing business matter, just watching Golf!. The course is in great condition especially the greens and run offs with great views into the wonderful area it is set in. The layout is awkward and tight to say the least with tee boxes crossing greens on several holes and adjacent holes firing at you making it pretty dangerous especially on the front 9. Balls flying around you without a fore shout. Nearly 5 hours into the round we walked off after 15 holes as 5 groups were backed up on what looked like a nice couple of par 3’s but we just couldn’t take the waiting anymore. The bar staff were friendly and the food was top notch. Would play again (with a crash helmet).

On arrival @08:20 clerk(pro) pointed us towards the cIubhouse for a breakfast but we returned when the shutter was down and it did not in fact open until 09:00 which the lady didn't think to tell us. Poor Fog lifted on the 4th hole which released some of the Welsh scenery mentioned in previous reviews. Eagerly antipating the true links stretch adjacent to the sea me and my partner were truly disappointed and amazed at the entire amount of sand covering the greens and surrounding areas. On the 11th hole I belive there to be more sand on the course than the beach itself!! This for me ruining a good round of golf, when I asked a member behind why so much he just replied by saying 'it blows over from the beach', which I understand will happen but not the shear amount that made playing 'golf' terribly Impossible. I'm glad I have played it so I know not to return in future. Breakfast on the other side was very pleasant.

Great course, but difficult in high winds, the second nine is much more difficult with blind shots off the tee.

Links gol fcourse at it's best

I enjoyed the challenge of links conditions at North Wales Golf Club including a steady 40+mph wind off of the Irish Sea.
The back nine is definitely my favorite with holes 10,11 and 12 situated along the coast requiring you to aim over the water and let the wind bring the ball back into play.
hole 13 a tough par three of 178yds directly into the wind requires a driver.
There are alot of blind tee shots that require one to trust the direction posts. Especially no. 8.
Overall a very challenging golfcourse especially playing for the first time.
