Decided to give Horncastle a go Today ,not played here for about 7 months and pleasantly surprised at the Changes made here since i last played , Practice nets are in place and work be-ing undertaken on a new putting green , Greens in very good condition and Dranage being put in ,a very challenging course with a fantastic view on the 18th walking back to clubhouse ,Food reasonable priced and Pleasant staff , would be nice to see sand in the bunkers but definately on the up.

I can only endorse previous comments, the new owners are working hard to try and turn round years of neglect. The course is improving, and the food, clubhouse, and friendly staff are great.\\\\If the golfing community don\\\\\\\'t support people who are putting in real effort, we can\\\\\\\'t complain if courses continue to disappear in the future.\\\\Ok, it\\\\\\\'s not in the same league as Woodall spa, but neither is the price, come on folks, give these folks a bit of support, give it a go.

I have been playing this course for 6 months, it has come on leaps and bounds since then, the owners have done a very good job of improving the course, its well worth a visit. oh by the way the fees for this year are the best around. GO ON VISIT YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED

I have played this course many times but finally the management structure has changed (oct 2014) and already within 3 weeks the course is in fantastic condition, I just hope they don't rest on there laurels. Money is now being invested in manpower and resources and a vast improvement is already visible out on the course with more promised. I can understand where a lot of the negative comments came from but some were unwaranteed. Ex members with an axe to grind against previous management structure clouded some judgements.

The course was in good condition and the rough was not to punishing. Excellent food after the round in the club house.

I played the course several years ago and can appreciate where some of the negative comments are coming from. However I played a 4 ball with family members at the weekend and was more than pleasantly surprised by how the course has improved! The greens are in excellent condition and the fairways are spotless, clearly they have heeded the "advice" given on here and spent some money on the course. The new clubhouse is also a welcome addition and I will certainly be returning.

I'm not sure what the folks speaking so negatively about the course were expecting - I found the course enjoyable, challenging and great value for money. The course has been maintained well and showing no real signs of the recent bad weather. Lovely views of the local scenery and a variety of holes make for an enjoyable game. Overall, good price and a great day out.

First time I've played the course and I must say I was a little apprehensive after reading a fair few negative reviews, however, within the first couple of holes I knew I was in for a pleasant round. Not a long course by any standards but a couple of the holes are tricky due to some well placed hazards meaning driver off the tee is a no-no. Plenty to keep you thinking on your way round anyway. Only a couple of negatives really which was the lack of signage on the way round the course and lack of map on the scorecard, as a first time player there were a few times I had no idea where I was hitting to and made selecting a shot impossible. Greens could do with a bit of work and although firm they're not the smoothest nor the fastest around. For £12.50 for a mid-week round you really can't complain. Very nice surroundings and a few picture perfect holes. Will be playing again.

Shocker!!
OMG!!! Avoid at all costs a shocking course, could be really nice but lack of upkeep make it like playing on a field that's not even fit for purpose. Greens what greens I've seen better fairways . A real shame. A thoughtful design but let down by th condition.Reviewer Rating

course bad condition
played here a few times but the last time i played with 3 other friends and the course was in a poor state, the greens are bare of grass in the majority of them and need water and feeding the fairways are not that good either, all in all the the course needs a lot of TLC and nurturing. Also booked and paid for in advance a bacon sandwich and a cuppa followed by a roast beef dinner after the golf only to be told after we finished our round by the owner that he had sold all the beef so he had defrosted 4 pieces of fish so we could have fish and chips, not happy. there was also a party of about 12 -15 lads on the course and after we finished our dinner 6 of them went back on the 1st tee and running to try and hit the ball just like Happy Gilmore only they were missing and taking chunks out of the turf there, the owner just looked and made the the comment who is that and then said oh its only them and did nothing . not good in my opinion. £15 a round on sundays think i will give it a miss from now on and dont advise anyone else to play will pay more on to play rather than Horncastle GolfReviewer Rating

havent played for a while but whilst up in Lincolnshire i played this course and to be honest i was totally surprised how well the new management have improved it since the last time i played here back in 2015 the food and hospitality was very pleasant i would thoroughly recommend this course if you are in Lincolnshire

Not a bad little course but the greens need a little work on them, gets better with every visit, not too busy either which is nice. the new owners are trying their best and are putting some good deals on. Good value for money.
