What the club says: Hockley is a James Braid designed course set on 250 acres of historical chalk downland overlooking Winchester the ancient capital of Wessex. We are a private members club established in 1914 and are pleased to welcome visitors and society groups to our club. Complete your enjoyment with a visit to our well-stocked Professional Shop, a meal in our restaurant or simply a drink and a snack in the bar.

Played here Friday. 23/05. The fairways are in very poor condition. There is no fairway watering so will only get worse. The Greens are in good condition as are the bunkers. Tees are ok.

A must play.
If your looking for a testing course to play that is well presented with with excellent greens Hockley is the course.All the staff are very welcoming and has a good selection of food and drinks.
Great Pro shop,with good selection of Clothing and Equipment.

Course in lovely condition, greens were at a good speed and true even after the recent maintenance. The wind provided it's usual challenge.

I don't usually do 'reviews'....
Played Hockley on 13th September 2023 - first time there - welcoming manager - good food - great course (one of the best I've played) - long enough to be challenging but no hole too daunting - very well presented with immaculate turf management - enjoyed the undulating greens, valley layout and views across the city of Winchester. Very enjoyable first experience of Hockley .... and will be back again for another round.Reviewer Rating

great course one of the best in the area - exposed - very exposed 40 mph winds and sideways rain made the game a real challenge!

Wonderful
Played the course this afternoon in really heavy rain, despite changing my glove on 3 occasions it was a thoroughly enjoyable round, The course was stunning and presented a different challenge on each hole. The greens were undulating which added character to wonderful course. Definitely worth playing and can’t wait to return on a dry day.Reviewer Rating

Great course
Wonderful experience. Stopped off on our way to the south coast on holiday, immediately made to feel welcome, busy on that day but only waited 30 mins, still only took 4 hours to get around. Every hole interesting and a pleasure and greens in good condition and with big slopes. Oh and some great views. A fair and excellent test of golf and well worth the green fee.Reviewer Rating

First time round here. Cracking course in great condition. Nice course to walk as it rises slowly, flattens out in the middle, then drops back to the clubhouse later on. Nice variety throughout the course and gives you a decent chance. Nice clubhouse, good food and welcoming. Look forward to playing again.

Beautiful condition. Loved
In great condition, on a. Super hot May bank holiday weekend. Greens and fringes we sensational, and bunkers superbly presented. Some up and down holes, and plenty of clever doglegs.Not sure how it would play on a. Cold windy winter day, I imagine very tough!

Lightning fast greens which are quite scary but if you hit your put straight and true they are wonderful. Your approach has to change as well due to the rock hard greens. The fairways are beautiful. The clubhouse is always very nice and quite reasonable.
