Fair course

Played here September '19 .

I played here once many years ago & thought i'd give it another go & it was a bit better than i remembered. It's short in length but due to it's undulating nature is not a particularly easy walk round. The layout feels a bit up & down in places where at the end of the round goes up & back twice & also walk across the car park to get to the 17th .

It does have some interesting holes & the holes overall have been nicely designed for the terrain with good bunker positioning which are mainly around or near the green. There are also good views from the course high points.
Favourite holes on the visit were 5 , 13 & 18 .

Greens & surrounds + tees were well maintained with the greens being lovely to putt on .Fairways were suffering with the last 2 hot & dry summers we've had like a lot of other courses currently. The course also seems to drain well .

Club was welcoming & the course was really quiet on a weekday afternoon which made for a nice round .

Green fees are overpriced for what you get but if like me you can get a deal online it's worth playing .

Not the longest but lightning greens.

1st time here. A twighlight round. Three ball in just under four hours. Course in excellent condition. The greens were very quick and on differing levels. Hard to read so a good challenge to avoid three or four putting !!
Clubhouse facilities excellent with a nice view of the 1st and 18th holes.
I'll be back again soon to see if I can master the greens.

A James Braid Classic Layout

This is a course which is well worth the visit.
Although it's not the longest yardage there are many great driving holes on the course and accuracy is rewarded. Of those the 5th and the two par 5's (8 and 9th) offer a great vista when teeing off.
Also some testing par 3's. The uphill 15th at 219 yards is a real test for a GIR and the blind tee shot on the 3rd.
The par 4's are also varying in their style and layout ranging from 250 - 400+ yards.
Fairways were in lovely condition and the greens true and consistent.
Met Julian in the pro shop and he was extremely friendly and suggested I play the back 9 first as would provide less traffic. Friendly vibe from members and other players.

Not a bad course, quite short. Fairways in nice nick, greens had just been sanded which was a shame. No hole where you need to use a driver

The course was in very good condition. It may be short but certainly not easy and is a good test of golf.
The greens are great, they really test your putting skills, big undulating and pretty quick.
The 2nd cut around the fairways is very thick and lush, tough to progress your ball out of it, if you find it!
The clubhouse has had some work down to improve changing facilities which is good.
We had a great society deal with some decent food and service.

Good course, some difficult holes but too many easy short par 4's. Members always have been a bit snotty and also watch out for the pro, once we were there and he said a few of the greens were having work done and so there were a few temp greens. There were 12, felt totally conned and wouldn't have bothered if he had been more honest.

Played Grims Dyke last week in a society. Nice little course in a mature parkland setting. Not overly challenging as their are many very short par 4s and 2 very short par 5s but you still have to keep the ball in play. I think the greens make this course a very good 1,I really liked the greens, they're quite big and undulating, well protected with some nice sculptured bunkers. Certainly recommend it to golfers of any ability.Very enjoyable course,we had a great society rate as well-coffee and bacon roll,9 holes, ploughmans lunch,18 holes, ham egg and chips and prizes (provided bysociety organiser) £55

Short course but enjoyed it. Confused by the 14th as distance shows as nearly 400 yards on the tee & my watch but now a par 3 with a very different standard green. Trees marked with X dotted around have falling biting caterpillars - just in case you were wondering. Kitchen shut was disappointing.

Good Course

Course in great shape, the greens are very difficult to read and be aware of the short putt. Club house friendly and the breakfast was good value for money.

Pleasant course. Short and tight. Very wet conditions when we played but played quote well nevertheless. Bunkers were suffering because of the rain.

A really well maintained and challenging course
Only one downside it was extremely busy although this was managed very well with a lot of flexibility from those playing the course.
