Thonock course doesn't live up to the clubhouse and facilities.
As i arrived i thought this is going to be a great day but really the course
plays like a relatively new one although it's well established. The bunkers are the worst i have ever encountered, there is absolutely no sand at all, I can't believe the resident pro hasn't addressed this with the greenstaff! they are like clay.
You will enjoy it like we did but better courses within 15 miles and half the price.

Considering the summer we have had the course was in excellent condition. The rough was fair and playable, the first three greens were a bit worse for wear

My vfm rating is due to staying on site and having 4 rounds of golf during my stay.
Great layout, rough on the Karsten Lakes is penal, bunkers on the poor side, and the greens were on the slow side. Water on a few holes which needed respecting. Thonock course was a little tighter but not so penal if you missed the fairway. Very warm reception from the pro-shop and the staff in cafe 19 and the 19th (bar), good food too.
Would I visit again? On this experience YES

Good course, rough not too bad, greens average. Some areas around the greens were a bit rough making it difficult to pitch ahead of the green

Two 18 holes courses with different layouts. Karsten has plenty of water and bunkers to keep you on your toes, whilst Thornock is more of a woodland course, good spike bar.

not so hot earlier in year but played karsten lakes 2.7.11 and was back to its very best fairways shaped well greens in great shape only fault not enough decent sand in them BIG bunkers(but suppose we should keep out)cant wait to play again soon.

Great club-highly recommended
Great location and two wonderful and differing courses. Played Thonock Park course-greens,tees and fairways in terrific condition considering the recent rainfall.Food and staff in the cafe were great.
