Truly stunning!
This course just gets more picture perfect every time I play it. Up there with the most beautiful golf courses you will find. The putting greens are always like glass, requiring a delicate touch and the general course condition is excellent throughout.Reviewer Rating

Nice track - shame about the player
This was a drive-by game when the other half was on a course in the area.To say the least this wasin the height of our wet season this year and a lot of clubs were closed! this course drains well, had some standing water by others were literally closed due to flooding - so a great draining course in my opinion! greens were pure and layout enjoyable. I played the lesser 18 two circuits of the 9 hole) but the main course looked in better condition and somewhat dryer!
Great welcome, great course, lovely clubhouse, lovely services and food!
[Pro shop even lent me a carry bag as trolleys were off!]

Incredible greens!
I played both the main Old Course and the separate 9 hole Alliss Course as part of a society. We played the 9 hole course in the morning as a warm up, although similar in style and clearly some of the same bunker improvements from the main course have taken place. It wasn't quite as well manicured as the main course, with tees needing a cut and greens incredibly slow. The main course however was in fantastic condition. The fairways were still showing some signs of wear from the dry summer last year, but with preferred lies in place and with the fairways clearly being watered you could always find a good spot and take divots easily. The greens are the main course were absolutely flawless, so more than make up for the fairways still needing a little more time to be their best.(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 82 Handicap: )

Lovely heathland course in great condition
I have lived in the local area for 48 years but this was my Ferndown debut on the Old course after a friend recently became a member. We played off the whites at 6500 yards which leaves you with all 3 of the par 5s and two short par 4s as the most obvious scoring holes. Every other par 4 is 380 yards or more including an absolute monster in the 11th which needs treating as a par 5 really.
The layout is quite compact with a lot of holes running alongside each other but it's a really good heathland course and was in great late summer condition.
Both the short par 4s are good holes with the 8th needing a lay up rather than being tempted to take on the green and the camber running away, while 16 has no view of the fairway from the whites and then has a very hilly green once you get there.
A bit more undulation would make the course a real great but it's well worth playing at £43 with a member.....but probably £100+ without one.
There's a very good 9 hole course here too which I've played twice before and would be a very good option if getting on the main course is not possible or too expensive.

Sunny morning golf
Played Ferndown as a guest, it was everything I expected. Well maintained despite the dry conditions. Greens in immaculate condition, although a small piece of one had been attacked by a burrowing animal. Try not to go in the heather, hall finding is difficult. All things considered, a fine challenge played in good company!Reviewer Rating

Ferndown is a proper golf club.Beautiful condition, great practice facilities and lovely food.
It is challenging but fair and there is a chance to score well if your game is in good shape.
