It was a great start to the day as we had the offer of a haggis sandwich instead of bacon! This was then eclipsed by the superb picture windows in the clubhouse which give a fantastic panoramic view of the coast and the town.
The first 9 holes were uninspiring bar the suberb sixth which has a strange effect on your knees and ability to judge distance when you look down at the crashing waves and rocks between your tee and the green. The greens were tricky and some decisions need to be made on whether to try and cut the corners on a few holes but there was little else to recommend them. The second 9 were slightly better with a bit more feature but again nothing exceptional. Overall the course is too up and down and claustraphobic for my liking. The fairways are narrow and you need to be very accurate if you decide to take any risks. The 6th was great the clubhouse has a real wow factor but the rest was a disappointment.

Stunning views... uphill part of the course hurts though!
You can see the North Sea for the vast majority of the round, it's absolutely beautiful.
Holes are, for the most part, unique (relative to the other holes on the course, I mean) and interesting. Also, appropriately challenging. None are too long yet quite a few require strategic thinking or lay-ups.
It's a really lovely walk... until you get to the up-hill 11th. Such a steep hole. Then you have to go further up the hill to the 12th tee. Coming back down the 13th makes is somewhat enjoyable, the 13th is a really fun hole, but honestly the 11th and 12th did serious damage to my legs. My round somewhat disappeared as I stopped transferring my weight as well as usual and found my swings rather tired.
The locals ahead of us skipped 11, 12 and 13. If I was playing this course regularly, that's exactly what I'd do. If I was playing the course again, I'd use a buggy.
Club house views are just... stunning. It's worth going almost for that alone.

played 20th July. rating is about right IMO. Condition was very good indeed, rough kept low. Fairly easy to play, tough walk. Couple of great holes, half of the rest pretty good, four or five could be improved quite easily.

The course is good - back 9 quite challenging for the high handicapper though. You have to be on your game to make a score here.
The sixth hole is probably worth the trip on its own!
On the downside, the greens were disappointing - quite a few of them had top sand and/or were a bit bobbly and didnt run true.
We got the round on dailygolfdeals so only paid £12 so good value for money probably.

Too many long holes. Needs a better variety to provide greater interest. That said it was well presented. The restaurant was very good

spectacular coastal views
We played in mid April on a sunny, windy day. The course plays like any other traditional links course; you need to manage your shots according to the wind strength and direction, and course is set up delightfully to set a challenge for all levels of golfer!
The course was in good condition, already drying out at this early pat of the season, both the fairways and greens relatively quick in speed, the greenkeepers presenting the course in beautiful order. The course was also very busy, but once we had allowed a pair behind us to play through, we had no one in front or behind, so it was more enjoyable.
The signature hole is a par three over a cove, we had the "privilege" of using the medal tees - at 170 yards straight into the wind - thank you!!!
A very enjoyable experience if you can adjust to the speed of the greens and play according to the weather conditions. Highly recommended for the spectacular views along the coastline from the top of the course.

Very underrated course. Played this in great weather on a great deal online. Probably the best value for money course we’ve played in UK when you take into account the views, conditioning, layout and location. Must play for all
