Excellent views

A beautiful course with excellent views on the Borders coastline. A nice clubhouse, well stocked and priced shop. Great practice facilities, the course layout is simply stunning with a few tricky holes that require thought and little wind. The condition was superb, very fast and true greens. The course is just simply one you must play. I loved this venue, it made my week, the best of 5 played in as many days and I simply can't wait to return.

This is a coastal links course really worth a visit. I don't play much links golf but this was very good. Some very long holes and some low cliff edge holes that will punish a wayward drive. The signature hole is the(approx. 125yds) par 3 6th which tees off across a sea gorge. Its only 100yds across open water and rocks but it does look daunting when you stand on the tee for the first time. If you're not a good walker take a buggy because there's a long climb up the 11th and onto the par 3 12th before coming all the way back down again. Be sure to keep your tee shot on the 13th a bit to left of the marker post or you'll end up way off line on the wrong fairway as it slopes steeply to the left. I didn't use the facilities but the pro in the shop and the local members were very friendly and helpful. Paid ?23 without a buggy.

Great course

Played on 24th April in good weather with only a slight breeze off the sea. Course condition was excellent with firm fairways and challenging slick greens on most holes. There is a steep climb up the 11th and 12th before coming back down the par 5 13th. When playing the 13th, aim just to the right of the marker pole to avoid ending up on the wrong fairway to the left. I found the par 3's the most challenging because of the undulating greens mainly. The par 3 6th hole is the signature hole and tee's off across a gorge at the cliffs (about 100yds across) before landing on a green that slopes back towards the cliffs if you land short with spin. In the breeze I played a short 9 iron and birdied this hole. Views are stunning from all the cliffside holes.
I'm around a 14 handicap and scored a decent 84 considering I didn't know the course at all.
It was not busy on the weekday I played. Booked at 10 and allowed to tee off 20mins early. Staff and local club players were friendly and very helpful. Definitely play this one again again when next in Berwick upon Tweed.

Too many long holes. Needs a better variety to provide greater interest. That said it was well presented. The restaurant was very good

Eyemouth

Eyemouth is an outstanding cliff-side course with some lovely holes, of which the standout is probably the par 3 6th. It's only 131 yards from the yellows, but you have to go over the North Sea for 100 of them.

There are a couple of climbs (11th and 15th), but mostly the course is fairly easy walking. The fairways are super wide, and the biggest defence to a good score are the undulating greens and the weather.

I played here after a day of very heavy rain and the course remained very playable. I can't think of a single reason why you wouldn't want to play here.
