Good course, played a long time ago as well and plays well at this time of year. It was redeveloped some years back with a new clubhouse and range, but all looks a bit tired now.

Boggy on our day
Nice course, cheap round. Very boggy underfoot on the day we were there, and we played when it was freezing. Those going out after 11am wouldn't have had much fun trudging around. Also (and again maybe just our trip) the greens had been airated/spiked but not rolled afterwards; very bobbly and uneven which was a bit disappointing

Course in reasonable condition; tee boxes ok, fairways good, greens a little slow for this time of the year, may have been sanded a few weeks ago.

Bit of a mixed bag for me. I am due to play there in a society match in a few weeks so thought I better check it out. Pro shop friendly and looks like it may still be a work in progress, as it didn't have as finished a feel as the rest of the club house. (Which is a fine looking building with predominately glass frontage and an excellent viewing gallery/terrace from the bar area). Having paid the greens fees I headed to the first. The course is fine enough, some mature trees give it a more established feel and fairways are in good nick, but drainage is a bit of an issue I think. Some greens were very heavy underfoot. (I am not digging out the green staff, it had rained heavily the night before, but that was on the back of 4 of the hottest days of the year back to back so I think its a drainage issue rather than green keeping). Short Par 4's invite you to have a go and that was good fun and generally the course was in good order and some good risk and reward holes. There is a serious lack of yardage markers (this may be intentional as some of the holes are quite short, so perhaps its another way to get you thinking), but other holes had them, so not sure if it is indeed intentional. (They could do with a few 150's on the side of the fairways anyway). There is also a serious lack of Tee directions. You finish a hole and there is nothing to tell you where the next tee box is. Not too bad for me, I was in a buggy and had a course guide but would have had the hump if I was re tracing my steps due to poor signposting. All in all the course is fine though. There is however, a concern about those on it. Don't get me wrong. I expected it to busy on a Bank Holiday Morning but I would have though that any group would see a single player, in a buggy, on the tee box and wave them through. Alas it took some time before the first group did. The 2nd group where more gracious and waved me through straight away, however a two ball that didn't find the fairway, with their first 3 shots (whilst I had caught up with them on the tee box) remained steadfastly obstructive for the next 3 holes. A pointless exercise that caused a back log behind me and every group following. Once though the turn though it was clear until the 16th but the Pace of play by the group ahead was good, and the back 9 has some nice holes to enjoy. The 18th is a fine hole, but it was here that I really did think that maybe a marshal (of the old west style) may be not just an idea but a necessity. Your approach to the green on your 2nd shot on the 18th is from an elevated part of the fair way. The path 30 yards behind the 18th green provides access for golfers heading to the 10th. Unless of course, you decide to not walk along the path and instead pop out from behind the bushes on the back left of the green. Needless to say,(sods law being in effect), my ball has cleared the green and struck the trolley bag of one of these tree dwelling lads. I drive down and apologise for not calling "fore" (in truth I was a bit gobsmacked someone would walk across the back of the green/area in play when there is still a perfectly good path to use), but I should indeed have called. My apology however is met with a "You should be more careful, you could have hurt someone". Yes, Possibly, but not if you had been on the path designed for moving from one hole to the next without walking across an area of play. Rightly realising that you cant argue with an idiot, (as they will bring you down to their level and beat you on experience), I bit my tongue, I chipped on, putted out and called it a day. To recap; Pro's- Facilities and Pro shop, good. Course, good. Fairways, good, greens pretty good (if some a little spongy). Cons -Lack of signage and yardage markers. Distinct lack of manners by some, (Not all) and perhaps a Marshal at busy times.

Found the green edges (forgive the untechnical term!) were a bit shabby and long as was the first cut aside of the fairways. Bunker edges were also overgrown.

Nice golf course but the bar closed really early so could not get any refreshments at 9 or 18 holes.

A surprisingly good find, especially given its proximity to London.
A fairly forgiving course for a wayward drive, but some nice holes - particularly the very short par 3 over water (11th) and the 18th. Clubhouse looks great.

Nice course but requires better management. There is insufficient sand in the bunkers and we experienced very slow players in front of us. There was no course marshall coming round to ensure timely play. We eventually skipped a hole to get in front of the slow 4 ball. It had taken them an hour to play 3 holes. We spoke to a two ball in front of us who were behind a slow 3 ball of older men. They refused to let the 2 ball play through so course etiquette is not always observed and thus the course marshall is required to enforce it. After the 9th we stopped at the pro shop to get cold drinks - it was closed. That was around 17:30. After our round we went up to the bar - it was closed. That was at 19:45. There were still people out on the course. They are advertising for members and I can see why. There is no soul in this golf club. It is clinical, which is a shame because it's a good course. They charge 50p for every card transaction - a bewildering piece of greed which I have never encountered at any other course

Course in good condition, particularly the fairways. Bunkers need a bit of work.
