What the club says: Our Club opened for play on 14 June 1912. It was designed by W. Herbert Fowler and was described by James Braid, five-times winner of the British Open, as 'a good sporting course'. It is a good test of golf for players of all abilities, combining the fun of links-style golf with constantly changing battles with the wind blowing in from Beachy Head. Age too, is no barrier, as the springy turf is always pleasant to walk on and the undulations are gentle enough for the most mature of players.

Fantastic
Course in perfect condition played in perfect conditions. Greens perfect. Maybe slightly slower than expected. Fairways optimum. No wind & a hot sunny day so scoring less challenging.Reviewer Rating

Gone downhill
Since last playing the course it hasn't faired very well over the winter, course was still water logged & greens not in great shape. It's a shame as it previously was very good & like the course layout. Doesn't help that's it's expensive to play even at twilight.Reviewer Rating

Wonderful seaside course
Not sure if it strictly qualifies as links but it's right on the Sussex coast & open to the winds. Bordered too by the railway there are some great views down to Beachy Head & inland despite being low lying. Greens were excellent. Fairways best I've played this Spring. When the sun shines & the wind is gentle just idyllic.Reviewer Rating

Sunny October round
I played Cooden Beach on a warm late October day - it was 18 degrees & sunny. Course was in very good order - tee boxes, putting green, fairways, green aprons all well groomed. Flew round in under 3 hours, enjoyed the course and its challenge. Lots of trouble (ditches/water) if you put the ball in the wrong place. Staff were very accommodating. My only criticism would be the pace of the greens - they were far too slow. Otherwise would be happy to play here again.Reviewer Rating

Super course, great value, warm welcome from the Pro.
Visit to Cooden Beach was a great experience. Course in very good condition considering the recent snow and bad weather. Greens looking in great shape. Really testing course and some great views on the East Sussex countryside. Comfortable clubhouse but disappointed with not being able to even get a sandwich from a closed kitchen after 18 holes.(Round played: Mar 2018

Worth a visit
Good course in excellent condition.Wide fairways but do not think it is an easy course as the wind plays a very big part as to where and how you hit the ball.
