Chingford GC - A great public, council owned course
For a council run and maintained course, Chingford is very well look after. There are dog walkers aplenty, but that doesn't distract from the course and I never once came across any droppings, so fair play to the dog owners. There are some good challenging holes and not 2 the same as there is a good mix around the 18 holes. For the time of year (November), the course was in pretty good condition. Lost a couple of balls, but that was down to poor shots rather than leaves on the ground. A couple of winter mat tee-boxes which is expected, but the remainder were ok. Fairways were in great condition and the greens were too. Off course there is a small clubhouse and pro-shop that sells the basic items. The bonus here is the attached cafe, which serves some great food and idrink and s very welcoming after the round and competitively priced. I'd return to Chingford in the summer to see how it plays then.Reviewer Rating

Great value
Having played this course a few times now I must admit I have been more impressed every time…First time the greens were okay but the last two they have been in excellent nick and the fairways seem to have improved as well.
Tight layout which prioritises well placed tee shots rather than distance which gives nice approaches into either raised or down hill greens
Greens are small as expected with parkland courses but this presents a good challenge, running fast too made putting difficult, particularly down hill

Just About O.K. But Probably Won't Return
Played here January , 2020 .I hadn't played here before as i don't live in the area . I would say it's o.k. to play once but i can't see myself wanting to play it again.
It has a fairly pleasant & serene setting & i liked that it felt as if it's part of the town .I quite liked the dog legs 2 , 5 , 12 holes & 18 is a nice finisher but the rest of the holes aren't anything out of the ordinary. There are only three par 3's of which two are fairly forgettable .The course would have benefited in having 4 or 5 par threes & if they were better holes .
The greens putted the slowest i've seen this winter but they may have been being protected as this winter has been ultra wet so far .
Good value on the twilight rate @ £10 .The course may also be busier than you might expect .

Carved in Epping Forest mature tree line parkland course with tight fairways. So course management comes into play. Undulating hilly fairway with not many hazards what I could see? Fairway and greens were in good condition. The greens were quick with subtle brakes. Bunkers looked hard. Would recommend and at £15 mid-week great valveReviewer Rating

Value for money
This course is well worth a visit especially on a weekday afternoon. Some tees need a bit of attention. The fairways had a nice amount of grass on them just to give you a cushion under the ball. The greens are reasonably small but were in such good conditions and ran at a decent speed, Even though they are small they are also tricky to read and a 3 putt is always possible. At ?18 for a weekday afternoon you will not find better value for money anywhere else. The scorecard makes some of the holes look short and easy but this is not the case. Holes are tree lined but not too tight. Side slopes need to dealt with, especially after the dry spell of weather. Undulating but walkable. Well worth a visit, plot yourself around and you should have an enjoyable game with a decent score.Reviewer Rating

Great greens, slow pace
First visit and reasonably interesting layout. Course was in good condition especially the greens that were fast and true even with the recent wet weather. There were some slow players on the course that was frustrating but certainly good value for money.Reviewer Rating

A very nice course
Chingford is a very nice parkland course, especially for £10 after 2pm!!It's a great layout, tight & tree lined in places, which makes you think off the tee, plus a number of holes where you can open your shoulders (as per previous reviews look out for the dog walkers, they are clueless!)
The greens are in superb condition, couldn't comment on the 3 bunkers, I didn't go in one.
If I was being picky it is missing a few bunkers & one or two of the greens are a bit flat & featureless, but that's being really picky.
Overall a superb course, well laid out & in great condition.
