What the club says: Ryder Cup players, Peter Alliss and Clive Clark, have transformed this intriguing piece of land into one of the most beautiful golf courses in the country – a mixture of classic links and modern championship course.
The club is named after the Greenwich Meridian Line which runs through the course. Only eleven courses in the world span the Meridian Line - ten in England and one in France.
With water hazards on all but five of the holes and large, undulating greens built to USGA championship course standards, you need both a fearless approach and a steady head.

Should have been closed
Played holes 1-4 and then 14-18, then played them all again. To be honest I was pretty disappointed to pay ?40 for that, it's really not on to charge full price for 18 holes when half the course is under water. Pace of play was super slow too with groups of 4 not letting groups of 1 & 2 through. We had to wait for at least 5 minutes on every tee.Reviewer Rating

Played this course 3 times now and loved it, in great condition for the time of year, will definitely be playing here a lot more this year. Staff were great just made us welcome. I understand that it under new management and have some work to do, but came to play golf not moan about a few pot holes in the car park. Golf is played on grass and couldn’t have better.Reviewer Rating

I've played Cambridge Meridian 4 times in total (3 times this year).Review of facilities / general environment:
Enough parking space (good), plenty of trollies or buggies available (good), practice putting green and driving range is available (but I've never used them). Club house is fine, nothing special but staff are welcoming and members I've spoken to have all been welcoming too.
General review of the course:
There is enough variety on the course that you can think your way round. Playing long can leave you out of position, so if you like courses where you shouldn't just smash a driver off the tee, then this is a good option. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens were always in good condition when I played the course.
As with all courses in Cambridgeshire, there are places where there is little protection from the wind so the conditions can make the course play more easily or more difficult, which is always fun.
Overall rating:
I recommend the course. And will enjoy playing it again in the future.
More detailed analysis / advice:
Hole 1 - Par 4.
If your short game is good, I'd recommend hitting it 200-220 off the tee, slightly favouring the right-side of the fairway, to leave you with a short pitch shot into a green that sloped back to front so you can be aggressive when going for the flag.
But if you can suffer from poor distance control from half-shots, then play to a comfortable short-iron (full shot) distance, again favouring the right side so you don't block yourself out.
Hole 2 - Par 4
Play up to the bunker past the marker on the fairway, which will leave you a short-iron into the green. Long is fine. Right side is trickier if you have the bunker to play with.
Hole 3 - Par 3.
Short par-3. Plenty of space on the right. Some water left. Nothing you can't see off the tee here.
Hole 4 - Par 5.
The marker post really is your line here (and your distance). It's a 90 degree dog-leg right so don't send one way beyond the marker.
Cutting the corner isn't really an option either so for most golfers you'll have to play this as a 3 shot par-5.
Hole 5 - Par 3.
Depending on the flag and wind this can be a middle distance or long distance par 3. Favour the left side, there's less trouble.
Hole 6 - Par 5.
There's a bunker in the middle of the fairway that can affect the longest hitters. Second shot is blind (unless you're Bryson De Chambeau). It's a straight hole where anything not too far left will gather into the fairway. A good drive and a 4/5/6 iron will leave you pitching for your third.
Hole 7 - Par 4.
The fairway levels out at the top of the hill and then slopes all the way down to the green. If you want a flat lie, play to the top of the hill to have about 180 to the green.
Hole 8 - Par 4
Favouring left-middle or middle of the fairway is the play here. Too far right and you'll block yourself out on your approach.
Hole 9 - Par 4
You have to play this as intended and you aren't allowed to go for the green off the tee.
If you can clear about 230 you can go over the trees that are slightly to the right, leaving yourself with a short-iron to the green. Otherwise aim for the gap between the trees on the left.
Hole 10 - Par 5
There are two ditches that run parallel across the fairway. It's about 250-260 to the second ditch and I imagine about 200 to the first one. If going for it for your second shot, play to the right side of the green. Anything too far left will not be found.
Hole 11 - Par 4.
Personal preference is to smash driver off the tee aiming at the bunker that's 20 yards right of the green. If you hit your draw, you could be flirting with a great shot but if it stays straight you'll have a shot chip. Attach the flag, the slope on this green will cause high chip shots to stop dead.
Hole 12 - Par 5.
If you are a big hitter, you can cut loads off this dog-leg left. Aiming about 50-60 yards left of the marker post with a 250-270 yard drive is fine.
Do not go left for your approach (water).
Hole 13 - Par 4
Plenty of options off the tee here on this short par 4 but getting closer to the green definitely helps. Don't go too far left on your approach, that's where all the danger is.
Hole 14 - Par 4
Don't hook it off the tee (water left), so play down the right centre of the fairway.
The green has loads of borrow so aim at the flag otherwise you may struggle with difficult putts.
Hole 15 - Par 3
No real issues except for the length of the hole. You can see any danger off the tee
Hole 16 - Par 4.
The key is distance off the tee. If you can, fade it off the bunkers on the left of the fairway, leaving you with a middle iron to a nice green.
Hole 17 - Par 3.
Just don't go short. Water. Take enough club and swing easy.
Hole 18 - Par 5.
For big hitters (anyone over 250 yards, I consider that big
) driver is too much off the tee if aiming at the marker post. You can take your chances by aiming left and cutting off the corner. But it could be risky. The hole only opens up a little.
So the sensible play is 220-230 left of the marker post. Playing a good iron down the fairway to leave a comfortable distance to the green. Too far right and you'll be blocked out by the large trees near the green.
Hope all this helps and hope you enjoy the course, if you play it.

Nice course with a couple of mad holes
Good course, plenty of room, but a couple of mad holes (the 9th in particular being barking). Signs saying play the hole as designed are only appropriate is the hole is well designed. Forcing a vicious high slice to get over mature trees to a fairway is mad, and I can understand why the 240 yard straight option may be preferred by anyone under 40. In fact it’s so silly that they need a local rule allowing the ball to be dropped on the far side of the ditch. Otherwise decent condition, though rather spongy greens.Reviewer Rating

Don't just smash it!
Great challenge for a mid-handicapper wanting to improve. Needs some game management to navigate and avoid the rough and hazards. Unless you are accurate, on the front 9 lower scores are more likely with the driver used sparingly off the tee. In the summer, if you can hit 200+ yds accurately with a 3 iron or 5 wood you can leave the driver in the car(Round played: Jul 2021 - Score: 86 Handicap: 15.4)

Scruffy.
Very poor tee beds. Greens slow and hairy, with holes in some. Poor bunkers. Some poor fairways. Nice lay out. Not too long but you need to plot your way around it. Good practice facilities with a small covered range, although you have to walk halfway down the first hole to get to it. Good social distancing and hygiene measures. Lovely pint of Estrella Galicia afterwards.(Round played: Aug 2020 - Score: 79 Handicap: 10.2)
