What the club says: Bolton Golf Club has been at its present location Lostock Park on the north western side of Bolton since 1912. The golf course commands panoramic views over the South Lancashire and Cheshire plains and enjoys an enviable reputation for its well manicured layout with fast and consistently smooth putting surfaces.

Lovely course
Played here on Sunday in a society, we all agreed the course was really nice with some challenging holes, and in lovely condition too. We got round fairly quickly without any holdups. The food we had was really good and the staff really welcoming. My only issue was a lack of hole layout on a couple of holes.Reviewer Rating

BOLTON SOCIETY DAY
Cracking course, very difficult test of golf. Greens were a bit slow and caught a lot of us out. Weather was great, course was lush, super friendly club.Reviewer Rating

Greens in excellent condition after the recent frost. The tee mats need replacing as the rubber insert has broken so you can't put your tee in.

Great course worth playing
First time here at Bolton GC. Friendly welcome in clubhouse and pro shop. Great breakfast. Good practice facilities. Course in reasonable condition, greens a bit woolly but ran well. Some nice holes, bit of a thinkings mans course. A little hilly in places. Certainly worth playing, will be back now I know the layout a little better.(Round played: Oct 2021 - Score: 82 Handicap: 6.1)

Nice course
Played a few times now - you need to understand the course to get the real benefits as many holes are on a slope, so learning where you need to place your ball reaps rewards. Nice mix of differing holes and a challenging ravine on 17 & 18 to carry, often into the wind on one of them.Reviewer Rating

Varied challenge
Played for the first time - course in great condition, even though there is only 1 par 5 and 3 par 3s the course still gives a varied mix of holes with the additional challenge of undulating fairways and elevation changes. Great views too.Reviewer Rating

Lovely course
Really enjoyed my first round at Bolton, super golf course, not long but a good test, lot's of variety to the holes makes it interesting, short dog legs don't need a driver , just good placement with a rescue club. Nice par 3?s and strong par 4?s, the greens were fantastic, the best I've putted on this year!Reviewer Rating

Bit wet but still a good day
Sadly the day I played (mid August) this course areas were still struggling with the summer deluge!Most greens were in reasonable condition and had stood up to the test. Only one was flooded. The bunkers were suffering too.
Having said that I enjoyed playing here. There were some challenges with the ?dog legs? especially on a first visit.
I will go back and play this course and look forward to it.

Nice views and the course is much improved. Played my best 9 holes in a long time. Good things for the future. Very testing for an amateur but good if you can hit well of the tee.

Our second visit.
Visited with our society.Warmly welcomed. Nice snack and coffee as part of the price.
Course was in good condition, apart from a few greens which had been treated . But it didn't stop us having a good time.
The course has an elevation change , playing across a slope so controlling your shots is essential. It is a fair challenge with chances to score.

Lovely course, but oh the greens!!!
A lovely course well laid out , albeit very sloping , friendly helpful Pro shop. But the greens, oh dear, on every green lots of round bare indents of about 5cm across. Several times a short putt just turned right angles, we ended up agreeing anything 30cm from the pin was considered as putted in one. Will gladly return when we read the greens are recovered(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 92 Handicap: 19.8)

Best Round
Played April 2019 (under a courtesy round) the greens were under repair and as such the course was not at its best. (I noted that the club charges less than £20 for a round due to this). However I could see past this and I enjoyed the course for its layout, challenging holes and the wind on top the hills (I played on a very windy day). I liked the variation of holes, hills and wind factor from hole to hole. The fairways were good and the tee boxes were all good, I will be back to play the course when the greens are better!HCP24 Scored 89

Greens shambolic
For a course that's apparently pitting it's wits with old links for Bolton's stand out golf course is for a hell of a long way to go. The general course conditions were average at best and the greens.... The worst I've played, unimaginably poor for how prestigious this course is meant to be.Reviewer Rating

Beautiful course
Bolton GC is in stunning surroundings and is very well laid out, with some challenging holes and a beautiful signature hole what more could you want, the practice area is second to none, club house looks wonderful and overlooking the 18th, pro shop is good and staff friendly.Booked on tee off times paid ?18 but don't think it's worth the full ?40 a round.
