First 5 holes just don't belong there at all. Everything else works well with some very testing holes. Some more on course signage would help but it's a minor point. I would like to play again in the summer months.

Quirky

Great course - loads of elevation changes. Tight going from holes 9 - 15. Loved the change from parkland to links to heathland whilst many probably wouldnt. Not conventional in any way shape or form.
Excellent serviced in clubhouse, very friendly welcoming by staff in the pro shop. All in all a nice golfing experience - A1

Differing opinions

Three of us played this course and two of us thought it was great throughout whilst the other, who is a low handicapper found the holes at the top of the cliffs bland. All of us found the condition of the course to be first class and the resident pro is very friendly and helpful. Clubhouse facilities are excellent. Practice facilities are limited.

Reasonably priced course which gives every golfer the chance to play on part links conditions without the huge fees usually associated with links golf.

I played Ballycastle on Sunday June 13 along with my two good friends, Chris Hughes and Roy Lappin. The weather forecast was a bit iffy, but it turned into a really beautiful day. The course was in tip top condition and even though I didn't get off to the best of starts I still had an enjoyable day. It was Chris's Captain's day in the society he belongs to and Roy and me were there as two visitors. The only downer on the day was that we weren't allowed to win the two's competition or the 'longest' drive, which Roy would have won easily. Otherwise we were treated like Kings and Chris was his usual charming affable host. We enjoyed our meal in the clubhouse after the golf, pretty basic fair but ample enough. The Guinness was in good order (just a half pint for me) and the service was excellent. The cost for the day was £28, which for Sunday golf with a meal (basic fayre), represents good value for money in my book, all in all a good experience.

Loved it, though wind (as usual) makes things very tricky on back 9!!!
