What the club says: 9 holes were built in the mid 1960's. This was well established parkland with mature trees and a grand display of beautiful flowers during certain months of the year, making the course an even more pleasant place to be. An additional 9 holes were built at the start of the 1980's and the course now stands at 6223 yds from the white tees.

Nice course worth playing
Second time playing Ashton in Makerfield in one of their well run open comps. Friendly welcome all round, tasty breakfast. Good practice facilities, two putting greens. Course suffering a little with recent long drought, some bare patches hence preferred lies in place. Greens ok, a little slow but understandable. Some potential card wrecking holes, especially on back nine, need to course manage well. All in all worth playing.Reviewer Rating

Hidden Gem
Played there many years ago , decided to go back. Well worth the visit course was in good condition with no temp greens did have temp tees ,but that didn't cause any problems. Members we spoke to were pleasant and cheery well worth a visit.Reviewer Rating

Top Golf
Ashton is in top form. The new work on drainage improvements has allowed the course to cope with this very wet summer. The greens are excellent and testing. Watch out for the bunkers though they are very inconsistent in terms of quality of sand ranging from soft to almost clay.Reviewer Rating

Great Spring Golf
The course is rapidly drying out after a wet winter and is looking and playing great. Two ball 18 holes in less than three hours then a drink on the patio. There are worse things than retirement.Reviewer Rating

Best in the North West

Nice course, worth playing
First time played this course. Friendly welcome in well stocked pro shop and clubhouse. Good food. Plenty of practice facilities. Course fairly flat well laid out, good mixture of holes. Treelined, few doglegs, need to plot your way around a little to score well. Greens true but a little slow. Interesting 3 holes to finish with, proper card wreckers. Super track
In decent condition for time of year really firm greens and fairwaysWell worth a visit they have 20 holes use 12a and 13 a holes in winter

Great course

Playing really nice
The recent dry spell has really brought the course into good condition. Greens are true and fairways are firm. Like hitting off a range mat in places. Provides a good challenge and is great value for money.Reviewer Rating
