What the club says: Houghwood Golf Club has a parkland golf course on the edge of the Lancashire Plain with spectacular views over to the Welsh Hills. Large receptive greens used all year and wide fairways provide a good test of golf without spoiling your enjoyment. Head Greenkeeper works closely with the STRI to produce consistently true putting surfaces.

Outstanding golf course some stunning memorable challenging holes coupled with Outstanding views from its elevated position.
If you are not a hill walker get a buggy as physically it is uphill nearly every hole

Tee’s in poor condition, especially the front 9, also some bunkers. The greens are just recovering from being tinned and sanded.

Love the course
Great track. Difficult start to the course. Then after the 4th opens up quite a bit to open out your shoulders. Greens are in superb condition. Bar staff very friendly. Food very good. I keep coming here because of the quality of the place. The only negative is that I would not say personally that this is a course that can be walked and played well.Reviewer Rating

Played here on a baking hot day in June. Course was in really nice condition with fast fairways and even faster greens. Food in the clubhouse was excellent as well.

Shame about the weather!
Played for the first time as part of a society day - the weather was initially awful however it did calm & the curse did cope well with the excess water. Nice course, great views and as a lot of the fairways slope, a good challenge. Will go back soon, would like to experience a dry round there - well priced also.Reviewer Rating

GET A BUGGY!
If you don’t get a buggy you’ll be blowing by the time you reach the 5th tee , I don’t think I’ve played a course that is built on such a slope I think there is only 3 flat holes on the whole course.It’s a great track mind and if your slightly off your in all sort of trouble as the ground lays away from you plenty of blind shots also so a few lost balls that were in play but as couldn’t see the bounce no idea landing spot.
Greens were very good.
Only downside bar was closed after we finished at 9pm during June ???????
