Stayed for 4 days at the Ashbury Hotel at the end of August. Golf and buggies included at the time so great value for money. All the courses are in good nick and present a reasonable challenge. Kigbeare is the most demanding and should not be attempted without a buggy. Recommend it.

One of the shortest courses at the Ashbury complex, this is aimed more at the higher handicapper. Reasonably open and on the short side, it still offers a nice mix of holes thanks to the terrain provided by the edge of Dartmoor, and excellent views from most holes. As with all the courses I played at Ashbury, it was in very good condition especially considering the amount of rain and the high foot-flow. Only complaint is that, again in keeping with the rest of the courses here, the greens are very slow and a bit bobbly; this is understandable given that it's a very popular golf resort that gets a lot of traffic year-round, but it does take a couple of rounds to get used to.
Overall, a good course for the less experienced player, but not one to remember.

Higher prices more taking away over years

Courses are sloped, a challenge to fitness as necessary buggies are restricted to paths. Rough cut to a couple of inches to speed up play. Accommodations is dated, but food & many activities are great.

Tricky course
Tricky course particularly when playing for first time. Lots of slopes and inundations on the fairways and greens which are difficult but also give you a chance with good drives. Greens not great and in need of a bit of attention but overall very good.Reviewer Rating
