What the club says: In total there are 5 eighteen hole golf courses - Oakwood, Pines, Beeches, Willows and our new course Kigbeare.

The courses occupy a lightly wooded parkland setting, in rolling countryside on the foothills of Dartmoor National Park. Extra hazards have been added to the natural ones already present, with dozens of bunkers and eighteen lakes making play even more of a challenge.

Great for societies

A well thought out golf resort with four 18 hole courses which means there is usually a tee available on one of them. Despite the weather, the courses we played were in good condition but it would be nice if more people replace divots/repaired pitch marks - it's not difficult
Overall, an affordable staycation venue that's so much more than golf, check out their website.

Well worth a visit

We picked a great week for our visit. Millionaire golf for the most part in glorious sunshine. The course is in great condition and they've down a lot with it since we last played there 3-4 years ago. I would recommend it to any golfer who enjoys a challenge.

Pyecombe ,worth the visit (16/7/21)

Great course, loop track so don't meet other golfers from the opposite direction.
The greens are superb, if you can keep the ball on the 13th par 3 you have done well.
Great views of the Sussex weald.
Well worth the visit and not that expensive.
Bar and pro staff are really friendly.

busy but enjoyable

Busy but enjoyable course. Lots of slopey fairways and greens to keep you interested and so good but fair test. Other courses also available which seem equally good.

Stunning Devon Beauty

Have been to the Ashbury hotel many times and always look forward to returning. All of the courses here are real gems, with Beeches being no exception. A short(ish) par 68 shouldn't lull you in to a false sense of security as there are some varied and challenging holes to negotiate. The gentle par 4 1st eases you towards a tricky 160 yard table-top par 3 with trouble left, right and long. The next, downhill par 4 is magnificent, with a blind tee shot onto a multiple shelved fairway on a steep downhill. The course just keeps coming up with more surprises and little gems to keep you interested. On top of this, the staff do an excellent job at keeping it in tip-top condition, making it even more of a joy to play.
One word of warning; unless you are really fit, a buggy is recommended as this is a hilly course!
My only gripe, if there is one, is that in all the years I've been coming here I've only once played the lovely looking par 3 15th - every other time it has been out of action and replaced by the 15A.....

What a place to play golf!

If you get chance to go then by all means go. All the courses are in fabulous condition all year round and the views across Dartmoor are worth the trip alone. All the courses are nothing like you have ever played before and there is always something unique about each hole which just adds to the uniqueness of the place. Kigbeare is by far the best course there but all the courses are a good challenge for all abilities.

great courses, quite challenging

Great venue with several course on the same complex, only downside was
you have to use a buggy for some of the courses but can only use the buggy on the buggy path so you have to keep walking to where you think your ball has gone, this made club selection harder so you end up taking 2 or 3 clubs across from the buggy with you. Courses were in great condition and the whole package was great value.

Course of 2 halves

Normally I won't drive 2 miles to play the front 9 of this course let alone over 200 miles, too many blind holes over terrain that is not suited to playing golf, however the back 9 consisted of holes that is more in keeping with how golf holes should be.
They try to justify you having a buggy because of the long walks between holes and the steep drops which is very dangerous when dry and I personally wont attempt them when wet.

Golfers' paradise

A cornucopia of choice - from a simple par 3 course through to a couple of outstanding main courses with greens to make your eyes water. 3 putts are almost a matter of expectation on some of them. Some beautiful laid out holes and just enough difficulty to make all of the courses a challenge for any average handicapper.

Great for a golfing break

Five Members of our golf club went to Ashbury for three days there was ample amounts of golf covering three long courses and one short course more than enough to keep any golfer happy the hospitality was extremely good value for money as was the all-inclusive dining. In addition to the golf there was also extra sporting activities included in the price should you have had enough time to experience these other activities there was also entertainment provided in the evening at the sister hotel which the Ashbury provided complimentary transport there and back
