You may be at the stage when you're considering taking a golf break to somewhere warmer. Fortunately, we have so many countries and destinations to choose from, encompassing all manner of budgets and preferences, but one area that has grown significantly in popularity are mid-haul holidays.

What is a Mid-Haul Golf Break?

Typically, a mid-haul break covers those locations that can be reached courtesy of a direct flight between three and six hours in duration, which for golfers in the UK & Republic of Ireland opens the door to experience places like Morocco, Turkey, and the Canary Islands.

Each of these has a constantly developing reputation within the world of golf, and our travel partners Golfbreaks have a vast array of packages and deals that could take you there for a truly unforgettable holiday that unites an appealing climate, outstanding hospitality, and superb courses that are waiting for you to discover them.

Here is what you need to know about these options.

Morocco

Golf in Morocco

We have recently explained why Morocco has become one of golf's emerging destinations. There are only around 40 golf courses in the country, the majority of which can be found in the historic city of Marrakech and the coastal settlement of Agadir.

This is a North African nation renowned for its architecture, history, stunning landscapes, culture, and delectable cuisine. Other cities to explore include Casablanca, Fes, and the mountain town of Chefchaouen.

Just a four-hour flight from the UK, Morocco is highly accessible, with the layouts that you can play here including Assoufid Golf Club, Montgomerie Marrakech Golf Club, Fairmont Royal Palm Golf & Country Club, and Royal Golf Marrakech Old Course. Agadir is home to Golf Les Dunes, Golf Du Soleil, Taghazout Bay Golf Course, and Golf de l'Ocean, while Essaouira is where you will find Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa and its Gary Player Golf de Mogador course. South of Casablanca, El Jadida boasts the Mazagan Beach Resort.

Turkey

Golf in Turkey

There was a time when Turkey was considered to be an emerging, somewhat niche destination for golfers, but that reputation has been transformed in recent years and it's now one of the most visited and attractive hotspots on the golfing map.

You are most likely to venture towards the beautiful coastal town of Belek, overlooking the Mediterranean, where you can explore the many incredible golf courses and luxurious resorts that have made this a golf coastline to be reckoned with internationally.

Considered the 'home of all-inclusive golf' - this is a place to be consumed, marinated, and enjoyed to the full when you spend time at resorts such as Sueno Hotels Golf Belek, Sirene Belek Hotel and Gloria Golf Resort.

The golf courses to play here include Carya Golf Course, Faldo Course, Montgomerie Maxx Royal Golf Course and Gloria Golf Club.

Canary Islands

Golf in Canary Islands

The Canary Islands can feel otherwordly, but they are within reach of the UK. Located near the coast of Morocco, continuing a theme in this piece, the islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are celebrated for their beaches, climate and spectacular, volcanic backdrops.

It's a feast of the senses when you're enjoying a holiday here - especially visually - and the golf courses have much to offer you too.

These islands have extraordinary landscapes, unique in their topography, which creates something most distinctive. But there are differences between each of the destinations; Tenerife is known for its diverse courses with wonderful scenery, Gran Canaria has some challenging and picturesque layouts to play, Lanzarote has superbly conditioned tracks, while Fuerteventura boasts links-style championship courses.
