6 Golf Courses That You Must Play in Turkey

By: Golfshake Editor | Wed 22 Mar 2023

During recent years, Turkey has developed into a heavyweight destination for European golfers who are drawn to this expansive and fascinating country by the rich diversity of its courses, its immaculate beaches that exude tranquility, and the many stunning resorts that are centered near the beautiful coastal town of Belek.

Boasting a Mediterranean climate within a four-hour flight from the UK, Turkey's golf coast is hard to surpass for the quality of service and hospitality available. St Andrews in Scotland is the home of golf, but this region itself has become known as the home of the all-inclusive!

With an ever-growing reputation in the hearts of golfers, just where should you play in Turkey? Our travel partners, Golfbreaks, present a vast range of packages and locations to discover, but we have some specific recommendations given to us by the everyday golfers who make up the Golfshake Community.

Surveying them to uncover the best courses that they played on holiday last year, the following standouts were repeatedly mentioned, identifying the ideal places from where to start exploring and planning your dream Turkish golf break!

We also include the comments from those golfers who described to us why they loved that course so much!

Carya Golf Club

Carya Golf Club

Since its unveiling back in 2008, Carya Golf Club has been a considered a jewel of Belek, taking inspiration from the classic heathlands of England, it features wonderfully kept greens that are surrounded by pine and eucalyptus trees. It rewards the strategic player - and all standards of golfers will find the layout rewarding to navigate their way around.

Golfer Survey Comments:

  • “The course was immaculate, but so well laid out as well. Every hole was a standout. Played it at night as well - 9 in the light, 9 in the dark, so it really was a game of two halves. But even in the dark with floodlights, the character of the course stood out.”
  • "Great condition, impressive club house and well laid out."

Montgomerie Maxx Royal

Montgomerie Maxx

Designed by the Ryder Cup legend himself, the Montgomerie Course is a spectacular creation that comprises of six par 5s, six par 4s and six par 3s! It will be a significant challenge to emulate that perfect symmetry with your own performance as the front nine presents numerous water hazards while the back nine provides testing tee shots over sandy wasteland!

Golfer Survey Comments:

  • “Amazing condition and great experience.”
  • “Very scenic.”

The Pines Course at Sueno Golf

Pines Course

There are two courses located at the luxury five-star Sueno Golf Hotel in Belek, but our golfers particularly enjoyed The Pines. It showcases manicured fairways that cut through the woodland, while the numerous island greens are framed by water, making this a thrilling test of golf for anyone.

Golfer Survey Comments:

  • “Excellent all round condition, great yet fair challenge for everyone, extremely well designed for all ranges of handicaps and a whole host of exciting holes throughout.”
  • “Outstanding quality, great service, wonderful golf course, nature, scenic views and overall enjoyment.”

PGA Sultan at Antalya Golf Club

PGA Sultan Course

This is considered to be a championship standard golf course, but any concerns about the potential difficulty can be overcome by the spectacular views and fabulous environment in which PGA Sultan is situated!

Golfer Survey Comments:

  • “Great weather, course in excellent condition, fantastic pro shop.”

Old Championship Course at Gloria Golf Club

Gloria Old Course

The exceptional Gloria Golf Club can offer you three outstanding layouts to play, but the pick of the bunch in the minds of the survey respondents was the Old Course. Established back in the late 1990s, tour events have been contested on this design, and it's clear to see why as it provides a great examination with tree-lined fairways and deceptively quick greens.

Golfer Survey Comments:

  • “Quality of fairways and greens and variety of holes.”
  • “All the facilities, course layout and condition.”

Cornelia Golf Club - Faldo Course

Faldo Course

Six-time major champion Sir Nick Faldo imparted his knowledge and expertise when creating the 27-holes at Cornelia Golf Club, which are broken down into three nines. Golfers who visit this venue will also benefit from the incredible practice facilities, including driving range, putting and chipping greens, and the David Leadbetter Golf Academy.

Golfer Survey Comments:

  • “The condition and features were excellent.”
