Stenson Looking Like the Man to Beat at the Masters

By: Golf Shake | Tue 17 Dec 2013

Ask any golf betting fan over the last few months who the form player in the world has been and they’d all have one answer: Henrik Stenson.

After making the European Ryder Cup team in both 2006 and 2008, the big Swede fell from grace following a wrist injury, finding himself sat outside of the top 250 in the rankings and questions were asked about whether or not he’d ever return to his former glories.

However, after a win in South Africa late in 2012, he appeared to be showing some signs of a resurgence and recorded his best ever major championship result by coming home second to Phil Mickelson in July’s Open Championship at Muirfield.
Since then he has gone from strength to stretch, finishing third at the USPGA Championship before wins at the Deutsche Bank and Tour Championship saw him win the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup series. He is now a firm favourite consistently in the Titan Bet best golf odds.

He then carried his momentum across the Atlantic, taking victory in the DP World Tour Championship to claim the European Tour’s equivalent, the Race to Dubai.

The 37-year-old has now set his sights on breaking his major duck in 2014 and you feel that if he can continue his momentum into the New Year, there will be few who can match him.

Take a look down at the courses that are due to host the four biggest events of the year and one jumps out at you and it’s undoubtedly Augusta, the venue for the Masters.

Despite rarely using his driver, Stenson has the ability to outdrive most of his opponents off the tee with his three wood, meaning the length of the Georgia layout shouldn’t be a problem, while his hugely improved putting stroke should also counter the famously quick greens.

For someone with his attributes, the Swede has a surprisingly poor record at Augusta but he is now playing with a newfound confidence, the type that can only be produced by dominating your opponents for months on end.

Of course there is still a long way until the players saunter up Magnolia Lane but if Stenson can tailor his preparation, he may well be wearing the Green Jacket on April 13.
