FootGolf FootGolf, the new sport that is sweeping around the country is opening up its first course in the South West.

Plymouth FootGolf will open its doors at the Sparkwell Golf Course for its first of a kind event on Sunday 1 December, with tee times still available between 12pm-3pm.

There’s a cash prize on offer for the winner and other prizes available for nearest the pin on two of the par-3’s.

Tom Barwell, the South-West Representative for UK FootGolf Association believes it’s only a matter of time before the sport gets even bigger:

“Footgolf is still a new sport but it's really popular in South America and parts of Europe and there are courses that facilitate FootGolf opening up all over England.

“It’s a sport that will take off massively in the next couple of years and there’s already talk of a Ryder Cup and the first FootGolfer turning professional next year”.

FootGolf began back in June 2012 in Wisconsin, USA and from there has gone from strength to strength.

The first official FootGolf World Cup was held in July of the same year in Budapest, Hungary which was won by local player Bela Lengyel.
