Golfers Gain Yardage with Nike Hyperadapt

By: Golf Shake | Fri 27 Sep 2013

nikeThe Alfred Dunhill Links championship is well known for its testing conditions, but Nike Golf athletes will be suitably well prepared with the Hyperadapt Storm-FIT jacket when they tee it up today at the home of golf in St Andrews.

A strong contingent of Nike Tour staff athletes will be in the field, including Charl Schwartzel, Thorbjorn Olesen, Paul Casey and Ross Fisher, and should the weather conditions take a turn for the worse, the athletes will be depending on the latest apparel technology to keep them performing to their best.

While waterproof and windproof garments have traditionally been seen as a negative for freedom of movement resulting in loss of distance, the Nike athletes were unaffected, with their driver club head speed still in the upper echelons on the Trackman system, proving that you don’t have to sacrifice distance to stay dry.

“In the past waterproofs restricted my swing. Hyperadapt is the best jacket I have ever worn and the first one I have used in tournament play. I love it.” Tommy Fleetwood.

"Hyperadapt gave me the edge in my Irish Open win. The freedom of motion & protection it offers takes away any distractions." Paul Casey

“I always felt too restricted wearing a jacket in tournament play & that it affected my performance. Now there is #Hyperadapt” Francesco Molinari

Hyperadapt has already enjoyed a successful start on Tour, with Casey winning the Irish Open despite heavy rain and gusting winds, testament to the comfort and flexibility offered by the latest Storm-FIT product. Casey was one of the athletes Nike designers worked with to test the Hyperadapt jacket technology, and it’s not just the world’s best players who are benefiting.

During a series of special Hyperadapt demo days across the UK, golfers were asked to compare their current waterproof jacket to the new Nike Hyperadapt using Trackman. The results were outstanding with 93% of testers* gaining club head speed, eking out more yards off the tee than in competitors’ product thanks to the range of motion of the Hyperadapt jacket. The average club head speed increase was 2.14 mph, which equates to a possible six additional yards off the tee.

Combining flexibility and waterproof protection, the Hyperadapt Storm-FIT jacket is the only golf performance rain jacket of its kind. With sweater-like stretch and an impenetrable outer layer, this jacket combines the benefits of both without sacrificing performance.

With no-sew technology throughout the inner layer, designers minimised chaffing and added a new stretch component to the garment. A 4-way stretch system added to the shoulders and arms maximises range of motion and eliminates restrictions during the swing. This woven, stretch knit laminate combination provides a quiet garment during the swing and a sweater-like feel for comfort and protection at every angle.

Along with a comfortable fit and increased breathability, the Hyperadapt jacket is seam sealed for 100% waterproof protection. Adjustable cuffs and hems offer a custom fit for increased protection and even less distraction giving athletes an advantage with every detail.
