Titleist Order of Merit Launches This Month InConjunction with HowDidIDo & Golf Monthly

A wide range of the latest golf equipment is up for grabs in the 2012 Titleist Order of Merit (OOM) powered by HowDidiDo and Golf Monthly.

More than 11,000 club golfers took part in the inaugural OOM, which ran from August 1 to October 31, 2011. Placings were determined by each player’s three best medal rounds at their own club during that period, with the scores worked out on best net differential to ensure a level playing field regardless of the difficulty of the individual courses.

And East Kilbride golfer Michael Wilson, 23, emerged as the competition’s overall winner, just 34 points ahead of his nearest rival to make off with the top prize.

This year’s event – which runs from March 31 until September 30 – is expected to attract an even larger field, with eight categories in which prizes can be won, including men’s, ladies and junior categories. Winners will each receive a Titleist bag, Titleist glove, cap and a dozen Titleist Pro V1 or Titleist Pro V1x golf balls. The overall winner will win a full long game fitting – for driver, fairway wood and hybrid – at a state-of-the-art Titleist fitting centre.

The OOM is a virtual golf competition open to every club golfer whose handicap is listed on Howdidido.com and who participates in medal competitions. Neither the player nor the club has to perform any additional entry of scores as all medal scores are automatically collated by HowDidiDo’s cutting edge handicapping software. And, each week, the OOM leaderboard will be updated with the latest scores.

The main change in the competition is that the number of qualifying rounds is increased to five to reflect the extended period of the event.
