Extra Days Holiday for Golf ?

By: Sarah Ramowski | Wed 29 Feb 2012

In case you missed it today is the 29th Feb and the extra day we get every 4 years. Wouldn't it be great if this extra day was a day off to play golf and we had it every year?

Extra Days Holiday for Golf

Here are Golfshake we recently carried out some research and it may not come as a surprise to you but most of us are happier when out on the golf course, with not a care in the world other than to get a good score or to beat our opponent.

Over 1,500 golfers took part in our survey and the outcome is such that we think there should be an extra bank holiday or just a day-off where you can get out on the golf course and not think about work at all. Not a work society day, not taking a client out to talk work stuff but just a day off teeing it up.

The survey showed that golfers who played more golf were generally happier than those that played less and the main factor for not playing more was time and not cost!

Happier Work Force More Productive Work Force

The Government have been promoting a happier society so what a better way to boost the work force, happy employees surely makes for a more productive work force. With being happy in work and out playing golf it all ties in with people having a happier more healthier life overall.

Simple as it sounds, think back to when you were totally happy at work? Had you had a day off or is it a Friday and you’re looking forward to the weekend? Well everyday could be your Friday if you are happier at work and in life.

The number we got back from the survey support our claim that more golf makes us happy and happy people/workers have a better life and work harder.

These are some of the key stats, facts and figures from our survey:

  • The people who played the most golf were a lot happier in life
  • Main reason people don’t play more golf is TIME not cost.
    • 80% said if they had more time they would play more
    • 70% say COST isn't an issue for playing more
  • 50% of people play SIX or more different courses per year
  • 30% surveyed are non club members looking to join a club
  • 90% would play more if they joined a club

Maybe we should all start an online e-petition and campaign for an extra golfing day each year, who's in ?
