Suffolk club prepares for special charity golf week
Charity days are part of many golf clubs, and Brett Vale in Raydon, Suffolk, is no exception, with this venue announcing their association with Parkinson's UK and their fund-raising for the charity at the club's forthcoming Charity Golf Week.
The week, 4th to 10th May 2026, will not only include a number of special golf events for members but also a prestigious Charity Open Team Event on Tuesday 5th May, when teams of four players from all over the area will compete in a competition alongside players from the host club. This event is already a sell-out.
This golf day will have the attraction of a top prize of a Holiday or Cruise Voucher Value £4,000 for any player achieving a Hole in One at the 4th hole at the golf course, plus other superb prizes including a £2,000 Golf Breaks Voucher, a two-night Hotel/Golf Break at the Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club for four people, and various golf clubs, equipment and clothing.
Other fund-raising activities are also taking place, including golf club members obtaining sponsorship for each hole played in their rounds of golf in the lead-up to the event - a scheme which is hoped will add considerably to the total raised for the charity.

Beth Condie, Community Fundraiser - East Anglia at Parkinson's UK, said: "We’re thrilled that Brett Vale Golf Club is hosting an Open Golf Day to raise funds for Parkinson's UK. Events like this are vital in helping us support people living with Parkinson's, fund vital research, and provide much-needed services across the community.
"We are especially delighted that the event is already a sell-out and that the club has generously decided to hold a second Charity Day on 3rd September for our benefit.
"Parkinson's is a complex brain condition that gets worse over time. Affecting 166,000 people in the UK, it has more than 40 symptoms, from tremor and pain to anxiety, and there is currently no cure.
"A huge thank you to everyone taking part, whether members or visiting golfers, for helping make a difference."
Matt Waters, Proprietor of Brett Vale Golf Club said: "Supporting a worthwhile charity such as Parkinson's UK is important to us and this, our first complete Charity Week at the club, promises to be great fun for everyone participating in our events as well as a great opportunity to raise valuable funds.
"I am pleased that the Charity Open Team Event on 5th May is already extremely well supported, with all places on the day already fully booked. This is great news and it promises to be a fun day with some excellent prizes on offer.
"There are also generous club members, supporters and other local business sponsors who are backing our efforts, and we thank them for helping make this a successful week. I particularly wish to thank our Headline Sponsor, Fred Olsen Travel, for their extremely generous support of the Open Golf Day.
"We sincerely hope that at the conclusion of our fund-raising activities we shall be able to announce the donation of a substantial amount to the charity, especially now that we have decided to have a 2nd Charity Open Day on 3rd September following the interest shown in our 5th May event, where a number of applicants could not be accommodated."
