Snow GolfWith the continuation of the cold weather across the country, sport and more in particular golf has been hit hard with most courses being closed due to the snow and frost.

But fear not, Golfshake is reminding you that during the winter period is not always a time to put your golf clubs away until the sun comes out again.

Many courses all over the country are still open, offering great discounts on all their facilities. Pro shops, driving ranges, golf simulators and indoor putting greens are readily available at many courses allowing you to keep your swing hot during the cold snap of winter.

Stone Lees Golf Centre in Kent is one of those courses that are still open and welcome anyone in to use their facilities. Their new American Golf shop is perfect for some Christmas shopping and along with the range and golf simulator their restaurant is open to golfers and non-golfers alike to enjoy the great food and fully licensed bar.

And some courses are still providing some level of golf.  Donnington Valley in Berkshire have not closed at all due to the snow, ice or both combined.  The Golf Director commented 'We are able to play off  full greens although it makes the golf more tricky with frozen fairways but those that have been out and played have really enjoyed it.'

Despite the cold and fog today and overnight temperatures of minus 7, over towards the Midlands Brampton Heath had golfers out early this Morning.

At 9.30am they had a two tee start with a golf society of 50 players, obviously all warming up before with tea/coffee & bacon rolls!  plus the course is laying on extra tea and coffee at the halfway stage.  I'm sure it will be a fairly quick round with them all getting back to Christmas dinner at 3:00pm.

Brampton Heath General Manager, Sally Carter-Jones commented  'We cleared the greens of snow last week and were exceptionally busy yesterday as people had been stuck indoors all week.'

'We never shut - the bar and driving range are always open and hot food is always available - 7.00am till as late as people are here......  at the moment we close about 6.00pm.'

So remember, if you aren't lucky enough to be near a course that is able to open, make sure you check out if any other facilities are open, I'm sure you will more than be welcome for a drink in the bar, food in the restaurant or some Christmas stocking fillers from the Pro shop.
