Lough Erne Resort to Host PGA EuroPro Tour Championship

By: | Tue 22 Mar 2022

After 14 tournaments of highly competitive golf, members of the PGA EuroPro Tour will be heading to Northern Ireland to contest the Tour Championship at the beautiful Lough Erne Resort.

The Faldo Course will play host to the season-ending finale, which will take place 19th - 21st October, and the top 60 from the Order of Merit will battle for five Challenge Tour cards.

Prior to the last stop in Northern Ireland, the EuroPro Tour will be visiting venues such as Studley Wood, Donnington Grove, Cumberwell Park, The Vale Golf & Country Club and Machynys Peninsula Golf & Country Club.

Daniel Godding, CEO of the PGA EuroPro Tour, noted: “I am absolutely thrilled to be taking the tour to the incredible venue that is Lough Erne. One of the UK’s most outstanding and best courses, Lough Erne will be an experience that will test and excite our members - I am certain the best player will come out on top that week.”

Although there are two championship layouts at Lough Erne, the Tour Championship will be played across the Faldo Course, which was only opened in 2009.

Designed by six-time major champion Sir Nick Faldo, the route will take the players dangerously close to several natural water hazards.

Each hole has been issued its own name, which adds to the character of the layout, and the players will need their absolute best if they are to conquer on a notoriously tricky course.

Barry McCauley, Golf Operations Manager at Lough Erne, cannot wait to host the EuroPro Tour: “I am delighted that Lough Erne Resort will play host venue to the EuroPro Tour Championship in October, where some of the finest golf professionals from across Europe will compete in this prestigious event.

“Hosting this event will also showcase our fantastic facilities on a global stage which coincides with our mission of being one of the premier golf destinations across GB and Ireland.”

Lough Erne Resort was awarded Hotel of the Year whilst also becoming the country’s first 5-star AA and NITB resort.

With a collection of more than 100 rooms, first-class eating options and general luxurious services, it has quickly become one of the most prominent golfing facilities to operate out of Northern Ireland.
