Father and Son ChampionshipEurope’s premier family golf tournament, The European Father & Son Golf Championship (EFSGC), has set up home at the luxury El Rompido resort in Spain .

The EFSGC has agreed a contract with the fabulous 36-hole golf resort on Spain’s Costa de la Luz, with the 2010 championship taking place October 26-31, and once again being televised by Sky Sports.

Finalists in the tournament will be able to enjoy some of the finest Spanish hospitality, four rounds of golf on the first-rate courses – three competitive rounds and one practice round.

Fuelled by demand following two successful events since launching, the 2010 competition will double in size from last year, meaning more than 200 golfers will be taking part, necessitating a resort able to provide access to 36 holes of golf simultaneously.

Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, El Rompido resort boasts two contrasting 18-hole courses, a five-star hotel, a selection of four-star apartments, spa and fitness area and a range of bars and restaurants.

EFSGC tournament director Toby Marsden said: “We are delighted to have partnered with El Rompido. It is a great venue with two excellent courses, along with the warm weather of southern Spain, it’s a perfect location for our event, which is growing considerably. We are in negotiations this year to be televised worldwide to more than 240 million households.

“The unique format of the event provides some superb memories for fathers and sons from across Europe with entry available to all.  It is an experience the players will never forget and it will be another amazing week.”

Last year’s event proved a thriller with Dermot and Lee Doolan from Co. Limerick, Ireland beating an international field to take the championship and Phil and Ben Taylor from Pachesham Park, Surrey taking the scratch championship.

Places in the 2010 event are already proving popular with entry available from £499 per person for five nights’ accommodation, four rounds of golf, return transfers from Faro airport, gala dinner and prize giving.
