What the club says: The North Course, designed by Alvaro Arana, the celebrated Spanish golf course architect, Rompido’s second layout has, like its illustrious sister course, utilised the protected and peaceful marshes. Accuracy is the key throughout the round but more so from the tee on the front nine and from the fairway on the back.
The South Course is an excellent course was only opened in 2003 but was immediately hailed as yet another gem from this part of Spain. Presenting an engaging mix of classic wooded parkland – with pine trees and orange groves to the fore – and protected marshland, there are many spectacular views on offer not least from the pontoon that carries you over the marsh between the 17th and 18th holes.

Fast greens ????????

Great layout, nice tee boxes, grass on the fairways and fast greens. Tough to stop the ball on some of the greens, with the wind.

A great place to visit

We had 5 nights and 3 rounds although some work was being carried out on the North course both north and south courses were really great to play. The whole El Rompido experience was great, fun staff a great hotel. We will return and would recommend it .

At One With Nature

You are at one with nature when you play this course and it's sister course the North, the course is well laid out with some challenging drives on some holes over the nature reserve.

I play these courses regularly when visiting the region. The South Course is one to plot round as some of the holes can be quite demanding. The curse is now in superb condition and is a credit to the staff. Very scenic also down to the ocean. Greens very true fairways can be narrow in places. orth Course slightly longer and more challenging. One for the longer hitter. some great doglegs (watch out for the 8th). This course can be subject to conditions and is quite a hilly walk. I think it probably suffers as a result but still highly enjoyable.
Take care in the small shop - expensive!!

Club De Golf El Rompido Norte

A Fantastic venue with 2 superb golf courses the north and south course , both courses with plenty of water hazards and sand. The North course is much hillier and enjoys plenty of elavated tees giving a great view out across the river and surrounding countryside a superb course to play.A lovely golfing paradise in the most quiet and non commercialised area of southern Spain on the Costa De la Luz.Its a must play.

The North Course was in very neglected condition with poor and weedy greens. The fringes were long and shaggy and the bunkers full of creeping bent. Additonally the 'water hazards' were full of weeds making ball i.d. impossible. While some renovation work had just started our party was of the opinion that this had been an ongoing problem and highlights that however fine the architecture and design this can only be as good as maintenance allows. It was an embarrassment to play.
The South Course we found to be in much better condition, and while the design is not as interesting and in places quirky, it was much the better option.

Fairways a bit messy (being treated) and vastly over watered around the greens (mud in places) - holes too close together on back 9 and 9th should be the 18th (right next to club house) - but good fun and fantastic views around the nature reserve

I'm with Mart T on that. Staff were "unhelpful" regarding a buggy because we hadn't booked one !!!! There must have been 20 awaiting players and others were returning from earlier rounds. surly and unhelpful. The staff even said they didn't have any power caddy's.

We played the South course on Saturday and the North on Sunday. South certainly has more trees, with the North being more open. All-in-all I found both the courses in pretty good shape considering the amount of use they obviously get but the greens on the south were in slightly better condition. 2 good courses.

Interesting point is that we did manage to get on the reserve list for Sunday and got a buggy and when I went to collect it......there must have been 50 power caddy's on charge?
