What the club says: The North Course, designed by Alvaro Arana, the celebrated Spanish golf course architect, Rompido’s second layout has, like its illustrious sister course, utilised the protected and peaceful marshes. Accuracy is the key throughout the round but more so from the tee on the front nine and from the fairway on the back.
The South Course is an excellent course was only opened in 2003 but was immediately hailed as yet another gem from this part of Spain. Presenting an engaging mix of classic wooded parkland – with pine trees and orange groves to the fore – and protected marshland, there are many spectacular views on offer not least from the pontoon that carries you over the marsh between the 17th and 18th holes.

North vs South
There are two courses at El Rompido Resort, North and South, the South course is adjacent to the hotel and is a very pleasant course although it was VERY wet around the greens (even in 34 degree heat and unbroken sunshine). Perhaps this is because the course is adjacent to coastal marshland (although only seemed to effect approaches to greens?) or perhaps was due to over watering, either way it was regularly wet underfoot and meant that a couple of extra club lengths were required on approach. The North course was also pleasant although, with a 15 minute walk to/from the hotel/clubhouse it proved to be a long trek on foot - would definitely recommend buggies for both courses (if available- book in advance...). Despite being on foot, still managed to get held up by a large group of 4 balls in buggies in front of us with round taking 5 and a half hours.

Fast greens ????????
Great layout, nice tee boxes, grass on the fairways and fast greens. Tough to stop the ball on some of the greens, with the wind.Reviewer Rating

I play these courses regularly when visiting the region. The South Course is one to plot round as some of the holes can be quite demanding. The curse is now in superb condition and is a credit to the staff. Very scenic also down to the ocean. Greens very true fairways can be narrow in places. orth Course slightly longer and more challenging. One for the longer hitter. some great doglegs (watch out for the 8th). This course can be subject to conditions and is quite a hilly walk. I think it probably suffers as a result but still highly enjoyable.Take care in the small shop - expensive!!

Club De Golf El Rompido Norte
A Fantastic venue with 2 superb golf courses the north and south course , both courses with plenty of water hazards and sand. The North course is much hillier and enjoys plenty of elavated tees giving a great view out across the river and surrounding countryside a superb course to play.A lovely golfing paradise in the most quiet and non commercialised area of southern Spain on the Costa De la Luz.Its a must play.(Round played: Aug 2017 - Score: 78 Handicap: 3.9)

The South Course we found to be in much better condition, and while the design is not as interesting and in places quirky, it was much the better option.

We played the South course on Saturday and the North on Sunday. South certainly has more trees, with the North being more open. All-in-all I found both the courses in pretty good shape considering the amount of use they obviously get but the greens on the south were in slightly better condition. 2 good courses.
Interesting point is that we did manage to get on the reserve list for Sunday and got a buggy and when I went to collect it......there must have been 50 power caddy's on charge?
