Intelligentgolf Rolls Out New App Based Food and Drink Ordering Service

By: | Mon 06 Jul 2020

The golf tee time-booking and round-tracking company Intelligentgolf has rolled out an update for its software, introducing virtual scorecards for competitions and an app-based food and drink ordering service.

Digital round-measuring programmes, such as Golfshake’s own Score Tracker, are experiencing a surge in popularity in the wake of coronavirus. And Intelligentgolf is looking look to cash in on this movement with fully digital scorecards for use in competitions. Scores can be verified remotely by committees, in turn helping maintain social distancing. Also, the lack of traditional paper scorecards eliminates the risk of Covid-19 transmission.

Jamie Abbott, managing director of Intelligentgolf, said: "The wellbeing of golfers and golf club staff should continue to be of the utmost importance as the industry opens its doors more widely. Clubs will see even more traffic as the lockdown relaxes and bars and restaurants return to operation.

"Our new technology solutions will make it easier for clubs to maintain safe social distancing while providing the same high levels of service their members have come to enjoy.

"Technology plays an ever-growing role in golf, and features like this will drive wider adoption across the industry in the coming years."

The updates, which were shaped by input from over 160 golf clubs, include the ability to order food and drink at halfway huts and clubhouses via Intelligentgolf’s mobile phone app. Like the digital scorecards, this new feature is designed to reduce physical contact in golf clubs and coronavirus transmission, with orders being processed directly in the EPOS system before being delivered straight to players’ tables.

The new software comes at a crucial time for golf clubs, with a spike in tee time bookings following the easing of lockdown and the reopening of golf courses in May. According to Intelligentgolf, year-on-year bookings increased by almost 600% through its system on 12 May this year.

Intelligentgolf’s new food ordering system is available now, and can be accessed free of charge until 1 September.
