West London Golf Centre Enhances Acclaimed 9 Hole Course

By: Golfshake Editor | Wed 09 Oct 2019

Since it was opened, the nine-hole London Course at the West London Golf Centre has drawn acclaim, which is only set to heighten following a series of improvements that have been made to enhance the quality of the layout.

After seeing incredible results at their sister course, The Shire London, West London Golf Centre have undertaken the task of inter-seeding its greens with leading bentgrass developer, Tee-2-Green’s, Pure Distinction, used on some of the world’s most famous and respected golf courses. This uniquely bright green grass is dense and grows upright and aggressively. It also has exceptionally strong resistance to disease, extreme temperature changes and general wear, making it easy to maintain, as well as providing a truer role than species more typically used in the UK. This initiative makes West London Golf Centre, along with The Shire London, two of the very first golf courses in the UK to introduce Pure Distinction Bentgrass and places it within an exclusive class globally.

Tony Menai-Davis, Director of The Bridgedown Group, said: “With the inter-seeding already underway we are hoping our quality of conditioning will shine through along with elevating the players experience. The recent face-lift to improve the experience and visibility of the facility, has given the centre a new lease of life. We hope that our recent and future changes ensure a memorable experience for all visitors.”

Earlier this year, West London Golf Centre unveiled a new look and feel, introducing The City9. Named on its unmatched proximity to central London, the 3037-yard full length 9-hole course has been one of the countries real hidden gems since it opened in July 2015. The re-brand has been accompanied by a new campaign; Make Time Play 9 which is aimed at the time poor golfer, who is looking for every opportunity to get the clubs out. Golfers will be able to access the course from Monday to Friday from £10pp and £14pp at the weekends.

The City9 and The Shire London will soon be joined by two highly anticipated venues being developed in the capital, West London Links (which sits adjacent to The City9) and The Dye London, masterminded by the Dye Design dynasty.
