KJUS PRO 3L 2.0 Jacket Review

REVIEW: KJUS PRO 3L 2.0 Jacket

By: | Thu 16 May 2019

Review by Golfshake's Kevin Paver

Kjus are a brand you may not have heard of. The Swiss-based company, co-founded by Norweigen ski legend, Lasse Kjus, was set out with a vision some 19 years ago to make the best performing sportswear on the market. Initially famous for its ski wear, they are become increasingly well known for their golf wear.

Enter, the Pro 3l 2.0 Jacket.

The Tech

There is some SERIOUS tech with the Pro 3L 2.0 jacket. In fact, Kjus claim it is ‘the most technical, stretchable, durable and breathable rain wear on the market’. In the making of this jacket, Kjus analysed every type of golf shot, and then studied the bio-mechanics of the swing to help them create a jacket that enables you to still perform at your best, regardless of the conditions.

Featuring 4-way stretch through all layers, it has engineered X-Stretch panels that have been built into the key zones of the shoulders and lower back, to allow for all the movement you need throughout your golf swing. Oh, and it comes in a left handed and right handed versions too!

As for the waterproofing, it has a three layer Dermizax membrane, fully seam-sealed and a water-repellent zipper.

Looks

Coming in three colourways, there is something to suit most tastes with the Pro 3L range. I tested the Atlanta blue / silver fog version, which I really liked as it added a nice highlight to the tech. If you want something more simple, it does also come in a simple Black or Atlanta Blue version. As you’d expect, the jacket does look premium and the added touches of the velcro sleeve hem and water repellant zip, you know you have a quality garment.

One other thing I really liked about the Pro 3L jacket was the fit. Sometimes with waterproof jackets, to make sure you have enough flexibility to move, you often end up with something a little larger than you’d probably like. The fit of the Kjus however, was perfect.

Performance

I had the Pro 3L jacket for a number of weeks, along with the Pro 3L pants. During that time, we had some pretty erratic weather, and quite a bit of cold and wet conditions, perfect for conducting some thorough testing of rain gear. One of the first things to note, is how lightweight the jacket is, instantly making you feel comfortable and ready to make that all important golf swing.

When we do get to the golf shots, the Kjus really does shine. The ‘X-Stretch’ panels work fantastically well, and making your full swing is absolutely non-restrictive, meaning not more blaming the waterproofs for the bad shots! It’s hard not to appreciate how well the guys at Kjus have done when delivering this tech.

Finally, did I get wet? Absolutely not! I played in some seriously heavy rain when testing these products, and they passed with flying colours.

Pros

This jacket is lightweight and comfortable to wear, and the innovative tech within the jacket really does deliver.

Cons

This is a premium product, and therefore carries with it a premium price tag. This will not suit the wallet of every golfer.

Bottom Line

The technology that Kjus have delivered in the Pro 3L jacket really is impressive. When wearing it, you can forget about the rain and focus on your golf. As I said at the beginning of this review, Kjus claim it is ‘the most technical, stretchable, durable and breathable rain wear on the market’…and they might just be onto something.

Rated 9/10
