Golfkicks Aims to Change the Idea of Golf Shoes
Article by Golf Journalist Joe Hughes
Golfkicks™ is a new, innovative brand that is aiming to change the golf shoe game, for good. Their patent-pending idea transforms a casual sneaker into a capable golf shoe in a simple manner, with just a few screw-in, eco-friendly cleats. The brand say that they have developed this equipment in order to “retire U.G.S. (Ugly Golf Shoes)”. Golfkicks™ founders, are established entrepreneurs and have a passion for the outdoors as well as golf.
The guys behind Golfkicks™ decided that they didn’t like how uncool and boring most golf shoes are so they’ve decided to try and do something about that. Co-founder, Tyler Stuart says, "Golf shoes are ugly—they're uncomfortable and pricey, a lot of people already prefer wearing sneakers on the course. Throw a set in your favourite shoes and be creative and comfortable on the links," says Tyler Stuart, Co-founder of Golfkicks™. With a proposed retail price of around $20 for 20 cleats, it is clear that there is value in the product and this could be much more cost effective than the latest golf shoes.
Stuart also emphasises the ability of Golfkicks™ to help you look stylish on the course. He says, "We don't expect to rid the world of U.G.S. (Ugly Golf Shoes) but Golfkicks™ will keep your personal style in the fairway even when your ball is not."
The product is not yet available for purchase but you can support the idea through their Kickstarter campaign page and help the guys to continue their development ahead of the planned launch in the Autumn. The money that is pledged to their campaign will allow the innovators to continue testing and move towards a final product that will be great for the environment and great for the golfers look. The first 200 people who choose to back Golfkicks™ will be part of a vote that will decide which of three colours will be first off the production line. In addition to this, the amount that you pledge will earn a reward and depending on the amount, this could be pretty handy come launch time. Ranging from a simple, thank you from the Golfkicks™ team, to multiple sets of cleats, you will receive some sort of thanks for your donation. The full details on the rewards can be found on their Kickstarter page. If all goes well you can expect to see the product on-sale later this year.
