Best links club in Kent

Yes - it's not hosted the Open (like Royal St Georges, Princes or Cinque Ports), but this is a proper links club. Totally unsnobby, this is a club and course for golfers. The course is great fun - it was with the wind for most of the front 9 and against for most of the back 9. The opening hole is a short par 4 with deep bunkers down the right and rough up the left. The drivers came out and it was course 1 visitors nil. Stroke index 18 too. Beautiful green though - smooth as silk and slippery fast. Truer greens I've never seen. The second was over a brook and through a gap in massive dunes. Tough. Third was a blind shot over dunes and the fourth back into the wind to a raised green. Hole 5 is a par five over a diagonal of bunkers - long but fair. Then a great little raised green par 3 (interestingly the 4 par 3s all face in different directions so we got and failed a good wind test here. They're all beautiful but difficult). There was another par 5 to follow - an easier one thankfully. Then a cross wind par 4 and a par 3 towards the sea. We scored okay up to this point but the battle back to the clubhouse was about to begin. I think hole 10 is stroke index 1. A long par four dogleg right. Plays about 14 clubs longer than you think. And it doesn't get any easier. The highlights of the round came with a surprise from the 16th onwards: A really long par 4 (a par 5 surely!) was a real tester into the wind. Then on a raised tee box - the 17th - is one of the most perfect par 3s you will ever see. Right into the pipe of the wind, a green is laid out ahead of you with a ring of bunkers, and sloping from back to front. Hit that and you are worthy of joining this golfers club I reckon. Gorgeous. The round ends with a lovely par 5 - birdied into the wind. Celebrations all around.

In the clubhouse, you'll find golfers. None of that tie and jacket nonsense of St Georges or Rye. It's down to earth stuff here in a lovely old clubhouse with normal golfing fare at good prices.

Looking back, these were the best greens we encountered on our tour. The course is testing but varied and fun. We'll be back.

A wonderful Links course with superb greens. Fairways very brown due to lack of rain. Great Clubhouse.

A great course and real test when the wind is blowing. I don't think I have encountered a more attractive golf hole than the 17th! The rough had been cut back when we visited but as it grows during the year beware - you will be severely punished for anything that is offline.

Very friendly and helpful in the clubhouse. Take advantage of the breakfast they do at the Littlestone Warren XIX clubhouse which is a short walk from the main club.

great little course and well worth a visit.
played in strong winds but that's what links golf is all about!
i imagine its a tough course in the summer when they let the rough grow.

Course is superb and always in excellent condition. The greens cool very pure. I have played here numerous times and don't recall a bad bobble, even when the greens have been tined!
I will play this course many times and will always recommend Littlestone.

without doubt the friendliest club I've visited (though Royal Dornoch is a very close 2nd). Beautiful links course and like all courses presumably very different depending on the wind. Good mix of long and short par 4's and 3's, great practice facility. Much more reasonably priced than the other links courses around the kent coast. A real gem

A stunning golf course. The fairways were immaculate and the greens as true as they could be. As for the setting.........stunning. Couldn't recommend this course highly enough.

Played on a Tuesday 2 balls only! 2 ball only on the course was us! Played the twilight after 4 and what an enjoyable round! BUNKERS, bunkers every where and huge! Probably the best and hardest course I have played. Was going along very well on the back 9, 36 after 8 and the 18th bit me!!! Shame about the vandal damage to several greens, bloody idiots!!
