course wasn't really in a good state. Tatty would the word I would use. Greens were covered in a sandy dressing. Some temp tees although no real need, as we have such a mild Autumn so far

excellent challenging course with precise fairways and the need to place the ball accurately.

First went here for a Lions event and, though I did not play, liked the look of the venue. Played my first round on Sunday 24th July 2016, joined on the Monday and had a round and enjoyed it so much I had 2 rounds on the Wednesday.

As a complete package, Slinfold goes a long way to ticking all of the boxes. The clubhouse and practise facilities are both excellent, and the course certainly doesn't let itself down.
As a first timer there seemed to me to be a lot of doglegs here, especially over the first 5 or 6 holes where there are even a couple of 90 degree corners. The theme continues on a couple of holes on the back 9, and I imagine course knowledge can be very important here.
The fairways are generally pretty fair, although there are a couple where you need to make sure you hit it straight. There are a few hidden bunkers or lakes, but usually you'll be able to see where to hit and where to miss. The greens, tees and fairways were all in very good condition.
What is missing is a pro-shop and bookings have to be made through the reception. That's not a problem though, and the welcome there was every bit as pleasant as any course I've played at.
I didn't really feel like many of the holes had a "wow" factor, but that doesn't mean that this isn't a very pleasant location to play golf, because it is.

Really interesting course - makes you think a lot - my course management could have been a lot better - will look forward to trying again soon.

I found Slinfold to be a bit quirky. Lots of doglegs, and sloping greens with difficult, bordering on illegal pin placements.
