What the club says: The previous owners invested 18 million euros in Oceânico’s Victoria Golf Club, designed by Arnold Palmer, one of the greatest legends of the sport. This was the most ambitious golf project in Portugal, and was aimed at being one of the best golf complexes in the whole of Europe.
The Victoria Clube de Golfe will be the fifth at Vilamoura and the most exclusive one at the resort, making it ideal to became the Algarve's and Portugal's major venue for top international tournaments.
Palmer, whose design company has planned some 500 layouts worldwide, compiled the Victoria course project, and Southern Golf, Europe's largest golf course builder, was awarded the construction contract.
Oceânico’s Victoria Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 72 championship layout, measuring 6.609 meters from the back tees. Several man-made lakes provide hazards for the players and also serve as water reservoirs for irrigation.

An imposing clubhouse with all the facilities as you would expect from a course which normally hosts the Portuguese Open. There has been a slight drop in standards ( the practice range used to supply free balls, for example). As a tournament course, the greens and their approaches are tricky, and there is quite a lot of water. That said a lovely course to play, but don't expect to beat your handicap.

Generally in pretty good condition although a bit tired looking around the edges, but the main elements ie greens, fairways and tee boxes are good. Note my evaluation of VFM is based on it being free for 10 rounds to DP subscribers during JuneReviewer Rating

This course is a great place to play. The layout is challenging and the holes are varied and interesting. The condition of the course is excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful. The pace of play is good and the clubhouse is lovely. I had never played here before, but I found it to be an enjoyable experience. The holes were spectacular and the challenge of the course was top-class.

One of the best in the Algarve
Really enjoyed playing Victoria again, fast undulating greens, long holes and lots of water on the back 9. In pretty good condition too at the end of the summer.(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 96 Handicap: 21.4)

NIce course to play whilst on holiday

Fantastic course. They are just preparing for the Portuguese Masters so in great conditions in most places. They are growing the rough so you needed to be on the fairway

Had a nice round here. Paired up with another two ball. Stewards asked us to speed up at one point or let the group behind through, even though the group ahead were still on the green. Tricky back 9, course in good condition, boggy in quite a few places. I think it was quite a bit overpriced, but I guess they can charge what they want here, and still be fully booked. Would certainly play again, but would chose the Pinhal over this course any day.

One of the best in Portugal
A really lovely golf course, top notch facilities a must visit in the area. The front nine is challenging, however the back 9 is really hard, with lots of water, I'd suggest 18 handicap maximum should play here to be realistic.(Round played: Jun 2017 - Score: 103 Handicap: 17.7)

Treat with respect and follow the course guide, sometimes kiss ifs easier than trying to go for the green, 17th par 5 has water circa 300 yards on right hand side, will play again
