Played the Grouse and Guadiana courses. This is a tight, hilly course with a number of interesting holes. This is the third or forth time I've played Castro Marim. The course is challenging, and requires accuracy in huge preference over distance.

On previous visits to the course the condition was never as issue. This time, however, the greens were in very poor condition, and were easily the worst we played during our week. Every one of them had large numbers of diseased patches that disrupted a smooth roll.

The clubhouse was luxurious and provided good food at a reasonable price before and after the round.

This is a hilly course and buggies would be a big help. Even better would be buggies that manage to survive the round. 2 of the 6 buggies for our group gave up the ghost out on the course!

Temporary clubhouse did not spoil our visit.
Course in good condition.
Prefer Atlantic course which we were not allowed to play....
Good value.

We played the Grouse and Guadiana (the Atlantic was closed due to poor condition). The grouse was in reasonable condition but the Guadiana was in a pretty poor state (especially the greens). As a result we got the green fee for 54euro rather than the usual 80+ which was reasonable. Both courses felt like they could do with some love and attention. The Grouse is a nice layout and you feel like a mountain goat on some of the tee's so a buggie is really important! On both courses, the fairways run stright into a rocky rough which you have to drop from, this makes it a tough course as the fairways are tight and being in the hills, there was quite a bit of wind. With a bit of tidying up this could be a really great track and something different to the usuall west algarve courses. The views to spain are magnificant

Lovely setting for a golf course, found the 'rough' on the grouse and guardiana courses a bit ridiculous as it's just rock but a good test for all golfers nonetheless. Clubhouse looked amazing

This is a cheaper option in the algarve, but still very expensive for what you get. The course is interesting, and you need a buggy.

Lovely course in the hills just off the coast with some spectacular view of the sea and over to Spain. Some very difficult holes but great for all levels of player.
