Don't like this course the front nine especially. The trees have been left to grow too much and spread well into the fairways making it difficult to always find the fairway. Pestana have made a difference since taking over and there is evidence that they are working on the course to improve it! The starting par 3 is always a tester, facilities are good though and the staff welcoming!

Demandingly long course with difficult greens. However a pleasure to play. Wet under foot but what else does one expect in early January?

...Played this course for the first in February 2005, was slighly wet due to the winter but never-the-less a fantastic course and more importantly has the longest par 5 in Europe..............I did it in 8 (3 putted) but from a 17 handicap I was over the moon.
Loads of history as the great man "Cotton" designed this.

Played Alto off season. Some of the greens were under repaie so temporaries were in play.
Course was in good nick, overall.

Course scores fair as it is better than some i have played in the UK. Overuse of trees as hazards would have liked the opportunity to play out of some rough as a penalty for a wayward drive rather than having to chip sideways from behind trees! The greens where poor and have been affected by a fungal disease to such an extent that i was told some players requested their fees back!
The clubhouse and facillities are excellent and a very friendly welcome was recieved.
