Very enjoyable round of golf. Greens superb (better than many private courses in the area), course very interesting and challenging and the staff could not be more pleasant. All for a very reasonable price. Definately worth a recommendation.

Tony G.... Are you for real I play there all the time and since they have employed a new exceptional head greenkeeper the place has been transformed from the dump it was, the greens are the best I can remember the new rough areas give the course some much needed definition. I'm sure it won't be long before this guy is head hunted which will be our loss so don't give a bad review on a bad round of golf!!!!!

This course used to be a typical run down muni. It has now been transformed into a fantastic, but testing golf course.Greens are excellent and as good as some private courses, and the rest of the course has improved dramatically. I've heard one or two of the locals moaning about the long rough, but from what i saw it gives the course a lot of character, I don't think some of them have ever been on a decent golf course. If you hit a shot into this long rough you deserve to be punished, as you must be very offline! Most of the reviews are correct, an excellent course, short and testing, and for the price of £7.50!! Wow.
Tony G, you must have played a different course!

If it was down to me, what would I do with this course?

Play it regularly!

Secure all the access points to prevent local urchins using some of the greens as a bmx skid-pan.

17th Needs more features down the left hand side; perhaps another bunker on the 18th cut into the front slope before the green, as the side bunker feels more like an afterthought.

It isn't beyond the realms of possibility to extend the 16th back to near the 14th tee, and there's no reason (or soon won't be) for keeping the internal oob on the 14th, as the tree planting on #13 will be protecting the hole's players from stray balls.

From a player's perspective, some of the patrons could do with lessons in etiquette. Apparently, in the Netherlands, no golfer is allowed to play a course without first passing an exam.........

Course is in great shape despite recent wet weather. Greens are excellent and the new shaping of the rough around the course looks great too. The course is improving all the time, a testament to the hard work of the Green Keeping team. A fantastic course and a pleasure to play.

As the Secretary of the William Wroe Veterans Golf Society I have been playing this course for 11 years. In that time the course has been improved out of all recognition. Most recently attention has been paid to improving the drainage and re-modelling many of the bunkers which the excellent current greens staff have carried out with great industry and skill.

The course is short but tricky. You don't need to be able to hit the ball mighty distances but you are soon in trouble if you can't hit it straight. The first and last holes are the longest (both par 4s of just over 400 yards) but difficult. The back nine has more par threes than most courses but these are all longish and require correct choice of club.

I would recommend the course for all types of player: Beginners and the older player will appreciate its short length and the stronger player will find most holes challenging, if hitting straight is not your forte.

Have played the course for the first time this year. It's great to know that the green staff are taking note of players comments. The course was in excellent condition today (29 April 2014). I am particularly pleased with the changes since I last played there in October. Bunkers have been suitably changed, keeping them in play, but less punitive and distracting. I still believe that the water hazard on 2nd/3rd needs some attention. The ponding on the 2nd could be made into a feature. Ooh! The new and improved rough... Putting a bunker behind the 9th where the bank has been removed might be an idea, or perhaps even a rockery or some shrubs. I know I am a devious git, but perhaps this hole needs that one extra feature. All that remains is perhaps the deep left-hand bunker on the left splitting into two, and an extra bunker on the last, left hand side at say 250 yards. Has anybody thought of reinstating a bunker present 40 years ago 65-70 yards out on the 14th?? Although I no longer live in the district, I consider this my home course, and am pleased to see it thriving. PS eucalyptids are superb when it comes to alleviating drainage.

Unfortunately this course is closing down due to a housing development. It's got fond memories for those golfers who grew up playing this small but challenging course.

Course is due to close soon being sold for housing very sad was a good little beginners course short but testing with two excellent par fours to start and finish showing signs of being run down. The greens a little overgrown and very very slow with fringes full of seedlings a shame. Played this course as a beginner years ago sad to see it go.
