What the club says: Whickham's course has been developed on rolling hillside and has to be one of the most attractive courses in the North of England. The panoramic views over the Derwent Valley, Tyneside and beyond are simply stunning. It's not a course for teeing up and testing modern day equipment..... the emphasis here is on accuracy rather than length and your ability to get into position to leave the easiest shot to the green.

Impressed!
This course is not that long but it is technically difficult as there are a lot of undulations, cambers and dog legs. Course knowledge would be very helpful to know where to avoid. I found it challenging and enjoyable. Nice clubhouse and welcoming staff, prices of food and drink very competitive. Lots of mature trees and narrowish fairways made it a challenge for me as a 21 handicapper but the scratch player in our group also commented it was a challenge!Reviewer Rating

Greens very good
Stern test-plenty of trees about to test golfers of all ability. I'm off 14 and scored 85 to shoot to my handicap. Greens in great condition and get good roll outs-very impressed. Will be back over the summer ??Reviewer Rating

Course in good condition, they have just lengenthed the course with 2 new/modified holes. Greens had just been scarified which made them a little difficult to read, but an unenjoyable day.
