This is one of my favourite courses. It is (almost) totally fair, you can see exactly what is in front of you with the exception of the drives at 9 and 14 - but on these holes the landing areas for drives are generous. Bad shots are punished as off the fairway and first cut, the rough can be severe.
I feel that the back 9 is the stronger as after a bland 10th, the memorable holes come thick and fast. The par 3 12th and par 4 13th are my favourites - usually played into the wind. Oddly enough, compared to my home links, there is not a trace of gorse on the course. Members and Staff very helpful.

Visited on June 10th 2012. Event was the Crosby Beacon which is a scratch team event for just over 20 clubs across the North of England.
Course was in amazing condition as was the weather. Couldn't believe we had warm sunshine and little wind (until the last few holes). Course is not the longest but has narrow fairways, lots of very strategically placed bunkers and rough that you will be lucky to find a person in never mind a golf ball. All in all it is an excellent challenge for players of the highest abilities.
Facilities we very good, Pro shop very helpful, everyone very welcoming.
Can't comment on value for money as it was a comp rather than a private round.

Top tip - if you are playing in a comp bring plenty of spotters - we had 4 and we needed them all!

played in march 2009, the course was in fantastic condition and green's like lighting on most but all in all tough course especially with the testing breeze either in to your face,or to the side or even behind were clubing down was a must but one of the Greatest courses round the North West for anyone wanting to play Links golf. A must for any Handicapped Golfer.

Disappointed but good

Number 71 in the top 100 !!! Well not in mine, I little bland and only the 13th and 14th remotely made any of the 4 of us, get excited, its an excellent course but I have seen many many more that are better, I truly don't understand the top 100 lists, and it does start to make you wonder how they come to their assessments, don't get me wrong, it is not a bad course at all, and was in good condition, but I left hardly remembering any of it, and that is what disappoints me

Great course

Played here today and for the time of year the course was in great condition and all on greens. We found the members and staff really friendly and will definitely go back again.
