Playing very well and in great condition - hard to believe its winter. Greens a little slower than usual with the ground being damp but full tee's and green's in use. Some repair work on bunkers, which means GUR, so slightly easier but looking steep when back in play.

Punishing rough needs to be avoided as once in you'll have to take your medicine even if you find your ball which wouldn't be easy.

Golfshake Team ReviewThe West Lancashire Golf Club is another at the top of the list of the best golf courses in the area. The tight fairways and lightning quick greens really do make this course a great test but a rewarding one at that. When the wind blows, this course is an exceptional challenge, but a must play nonetheless.

Pity the greens have been vandalised but can't understand why local rule allowing relief is not in force for the damaged greens. The cost of a bacon barm in the clubhouse is an extortionate £5 surely the most expensive bacon butty in the North of England! £30 for a buggy was also too expensive but I accept one or two other clubs are similarly priced.

Course is playing very well, the work of the ground staff is really paying off. The greens are quick and the changes to the 6th green mean it is much more consistent. Repairs to other greens now appear to be completed. Ball running a long way in true links fashion.

This is one of my favourite courses. It is (almost) totally fair, you can see exactly what is in front of you with the exception of the drives at 9 and 14 - but on these holes the landing areas for drives are generous. Bad shots are punished as off the fairway and first cut, the rough can be severe.
I feel that the back 9 is the stronger as after a bland 10th, the memorable holes come thick and fast. The par 3 12th and par 4 13th are my favourites - usually played into the wind. Oddly enough, compared to my home links, there is not a trace of gorse on the course. Members and Staff very helpful.

Visited on June 10th 2012. Event was the Crosby Beacon which is a scratch team event for just over 20 clubs across the North of England.
Course was in amazing condition as was the weather. Couldn't believe we had warm sunshine and little wind (until the last few holes). Course is not the longest but has narrow fairways, lots of very strategically placed bunkers and rough that you will be lucky to find a person in never mind a golf ball. All in all it is an excellent challenge for players of the highest abilities.
Facilities we very good, Pro shop very helpful, everyone very welcoming.
Can't comment on value for money as it was a comp rather than a private round.

Top tip - if you are playing in a comp bring plenty of spotters - we had 4 and we needed them all!

A must for any Handicapped Golfer.
