What The Club Says
Set against a beautiful backdrop, a round of golf at the The Welcombe Golf Club is a wonderful experience. Our par 70 course, complete with sparkling lakes and rolling countryside, provides a thrilling challenge to the experts and an exhilarating introduction for novices.
It's a unique course, stretching over 6178 yard, with three par five holes and five par threes. What's more, in 1998 we were proud to host the prestigious European Seniors Tour Ryder Event. And now you can tread the same fairways as those great old pros.

Course in good condition, a bit to hilly for me. Clubhouse closed by 7 so no beers after.Reviewer Rating

Great course
Course is great, greens and fairways in lovely condition, with some challenging well laid out holes. Only couple of things that let the course down on the day when we were there was the tee boxes which were cut like the rough and in rather poor condition. And the rough seemed to eat golf balls, anything slightly in the rough and the ball is gone lol.Reviewer Rating

Lovely layout, buggy if you struggle to walk, good price but well used
I thought this a flat ie not elevated course - till I go there! Surprisingly elevated but walkable. Lay out is great but it is a well used course as it's part of Hotel. Challenging but only par 70 off whites. We did feel rushed as there were some very fast players behind us but once we let them through all good. Great value for money.Reviewer Rating

So disappointed
For a variety of reasons we've not played at the Welcombe for several years andt previously enjoyed playing there. Consequently we were looking forward to this.Early alarm bells in the pro shop when a guy who had just finished his round reported a three ball going off the first tee with one bag between them. There wasn't much interest expressed by the staff member.
We saw them.on the 2nd tee and the reports were correct.
On the fifth tee we challenged them and they said they'd doe it before. When pointed out that they should have a set of clubs each they said they'd actually got two sets but only one bag. Apparently this made all the difference.
The pace of play was slow and definitely not helped by them
Fortunately they disappeared after 9 holes but the pace of play remained very slow. We spoke to several other casual visitors who were very disappointed at this.
On previous visits the course has been in great condition. On this occasion it was very poor. Greens were particular were very poor. Generally the course looked tired.
To be fair that had been recently been challenging weather conditions which may have contributed but a very near neighbouring course has no such issues and presumably faced similar issues.
We left feeling disappointed and doubt, like most of the other visitors we spoke to, that we'll return any time soon.
