Only real problem with Val do Lobo complex is they are not too worried about on course disipline. They do not seem to have any marshals and slow play is a nightmare. People on holiday do not give a rats butt for real golfers trying to get in a decent round. Golf at Val do Lobo is not cheap, one would expect some on course management.

Played the ocean course. 3 days of heavy rain prior to playing, however course very lush and greens still fast. The course is interesting and very scenic. Would play again. There are plenty of online deals that make this a reasonable price course for the algarve

A great course with a few iconic holes. Well worth having on your play list.

I've played this course several times over the years and I enjoy it more and more each time.
Yes, it is quite expensive like most of the courses out in the Algarve but you do get treated to some very well designed holes and some fabulous views.
You potter around inland for the front 9. There are some very nice holes here. The water on the 3rd seems to eat more of my balls than I'd care to admit...
This course really comes alive when you get onto the back 9 as you play down to the beach, along the side of the beach and then back away. The views are outstanding. If you're in the area and considering courses to play then this should be on your list.

the course is good, the greens are extremely fast and it was february when I played. the fairways too were incredibly fast
the issues is the price, if you book as part of a package it's ok, but a round on off season at 160 EUR and 9 EUR just to rent a trolley is expensive, feels like you're being ripped off - especially as there are plenty of good courses one can play for less

Make sure you've got a camera - stunning views from a number of holes.
Course was in good order when we played it (twice in 4 days), although the greens were considerably slower than anywhere I've played over many years coming to Portugal.
The course was so busy on both days that marshalls kept pestering us every few holes, even though we were waiting for every shot - spoilt the whole experience, and one of our group of 24 (actually one of the 4 ladies in our group) on our second round, finally told the marshalls to leave us alone - lucky for them they did !
Course was in good order when we played it (twice in 4 days), although the greens were considerably slower than anywhere I've played over many years coming to Portugal.
