What the club says: The Riverside course has been designed to embrace a number of water features in a tranquil setting adjacent to the River Trent. Traditional features add to the attraction of the par 69 course which measures some 5,848 yards in length. Each of the 18 holes test the skill and nerve of players at all levels, providing a challenging yet satisfying round of golf with great views.
Additionally, there is a nine hole par 36 course of 2,911 yards. Perfect for the beginner looking to develop their confidence and skills.

Played for the first time here and enjoyed it. We paid £15 for an afternoon tee off. On arrival the club house and facilities were excellent and the staff at reception were excellent, really friendly and helpful. We had booked and paid for three online but one had to drop out and they gave us a refund/ voucher for the spare round without even having to ask, which was very good of them. They also do make a point of checking the dress code when you sign in for the 18 hole course.
The shop is huge and the bar seemed good although the beer was expensive. The menu seemed reasonable although we did not eat. We had a warm up on the driving range which is excellent.
As for the course is well maintained the greens are fast but consistent and in quite good condition. The course is generally flat as you would expect with the fairways in a variable state in places. The tees are vg. The first 6 or 7 holes are a bit dull, but as you move closer to the river the water features kick in with some tricky holes and a few with real character, 8 and 9 are fun. There are some nice views of the river valley as you walk round. It was a nice day for us, but on a cold grey day it could be a bit dismal and dull, I suspect wind will also normally be an issue in base of the valley which adds to the challenge.
We will definately play again, but It's somewhere to tick off of the list and visit occasionally for us.

Golfshake Team Review
Not the most visually exciting course you'll ever play, it is after all on the Trent flood plain so is flat and prone to flooding and waterlogging, especially during the winter. Having said that it drains very quickly and is normally in very good condition, the greens are usually well kept, not wildly fast, but undulating. No real holes of note apart from the 9th and 18th, both short par 3's over water. The 8th dog legs right around a lake, leaving a longish shot to the green, very satisfying to ping it, and the 17th is short but demands accuracy.
Good pro shop (albeit a bit pricey) and club house, friendly atmosphere - Aug 29 2007
Golf Course Reviews for Trent Lock Golf and Country Club
Enjoy this course very much very testing greens which I like. Well maintained great facilities
(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 50 Handicap: )
Off the normal tees at last although given the fact the ball did not run due to the damp conditions it made for a "long" round. The greens were different again from last week running reasonably well. As I'm currently "bedding in" news clubs I did not score as well as I can but thoroughly enjoyed the round as it is a very good 9 hole course. Staff always friendly, food and drinks always first class.

The greens were in great condition for the time of year however the fairways were very boggy with balls plugging far too easily. In good conditions, this course is a pleasure to play for golfers who want to improve their game, however the views and value for money make it a good choice no matter the time of year. It also remains one of the only courses that operates a pay and play policy without the need to book a tee time.
A 27 hole venue well worth a visit. Fantastically stocked shop, clubhouse is superb and staff were very welcoming. Some tricky holes to play and a good test for all handicaps. An enjoyable course to visit.
Good round spoilt on the 15th-17th unable to negotiate the water. Like the course, but you have to play carefully around the water hazards. Good 19th, reasonable food and beer, friendly staff.

Think the club puts all its efforts in to maintaining the 18 hole course, but if they put the same effort in to the 9 hole then it would be a really nice little round.
very helpful staff
