Sorry to say it of my nearest course but just don't bother if it's recently rained. Despite having naturally good drainage the guy that owns the place doesn't seem willing or able to clear waterlogged areas of the course, thus resulting in a lot of puddles and bunkers FULL of water.

Nice little course. Lack of etiquette from people means divots not always replaced, pitch marks mended or bunkers raked.
Greens currently in excellent condition baring the odd pitch mark.

It's local to me and gradually improving so makes a convenient venue but unfortunately it's still nothing to write home about. Pretty dull and not wonderfully kept. The greens only hold an approach shot if wet and the fairways are often allowed to grow a little long.
Does at least provide a slightly stiffer test than first impressions might suggest.
Contrary to what you might be led to believe, it's in no way, shape or form a links course. For that you'll need to play Hayling golf course and will pay accordingly.

Tournerbury is the nearest course to me and, subsequently, when I don't feel like travelling far I do play here. It is therefore with great regret that I have to say the upkeep of the course is just not what it should be.

The greens are never great, but not terrible either. It's just bits and pieces that leave you feeling a little unsatisfied; the lack of water in ball cleaning facilities, yardage tombstones which don't tally with the scorecard and flowering clover and daisies in the rough, on the fairways and even on the tees. Making a course harder by leaving anything white about the place isn't good course maintenance!

On the plus side, they have now let the deep rough get, well, deep. With wide fairways this was needed.

I wouldn't say not to bother with Tournerbury but if you're on Hayling Island and can play a bit treat yourself to a round at Hayling Golf Club. If you appreciate true, tough links golf (Tournerbury is not a links course, despite its location) you will not be disappointed.

Local / Home Course

Local course with reasonable layout. Course can be quite water logged with heavy rain. Facilities are minimal, but adequate for course and area.Good lLocal amenities means you can stock up before playing.

Good 9 holes but could be better looked after. Fairly pricey for what it is but worth a round!

A decent 9 hole golf course. Very much a links feel with some tricky holes. Good value for money if you fancy a quick 9 holes.

It's ok for pay and play but bunkers could be a lot better. Shop and driving range are good with decent options

Typical Tournerbury really. Greens were good, fairways were a bit dry in places. In general the place looked good.

9 hole pay and play course where you can just turn up. There is no booking system. It has some long holes and is flat and can be quite windy as it is close to the coast. More likely to be open when other courses are waterlogged. Cafe unmanned when we visited. A practice course. Has driving range and limited shop.

Played the course today just a few hours after the overnight and morning heavy rain had stopped, as you would expect some water on fairways but nothing like as much as have seen on other courses however the greens had drained exceptionally well, only the 8th should any real sign of water.
