An Improving Course
Thornbury Golf Centre continues to improve, with investment in pathways, hole measurement, and bunker design - the latter in progress but approaching completion. The High Course includes some challenging holes, past attractive lakes, and tricky par 3 holes. The generous fairways make it an inviting course for the intermediate golfer, whilst challenging the low handicap golfer to "go for a par round" - but watch out for those lakes!Thornbury also has, in my opinion, the best 18 hole par 3 course in the area.

Par 3 course
We use this place as a pitstop on our recent trip to Bristol. We were hoping to play the main course but time constraints meant we only had time for the par 3, 18 hole course. There are some really good holes to get you thinking and a variety of length of holes just to sharpen up your iron game. The greens were much better than the tee areas, which was to be expected considering a mid February round. I was really impressed with the set up and wouldn’t hesitate to go back and play the main course if we are ever down that way again.Reviewer Rating

No flexibility given to reschedule society days due given Met Office w
I’ve been running a golf society for nearly 15 years and have occasionally needed to reschedule due to adverse weather. Never have I encountered such poor customer service, lack of flexibility, and unwillingness to compromise as I did with Thornbury Golf Club.With Met Office severe weather warnings in place and a significant journey ahead—including necessary diversions due to Severn Bridge closures—we made the reasonable decision to cancel and requested to move our society day to a later date. However, the club refused to accommodate this and insisted on keeping our £120 deposit.
Given their rigid stance and lack of understanding, we will not be returning, and I would advise others to look elsewhere.

Course is quite open & forgiving from the tees; at time of playing greens were relatively quick & true. Course provides a fair test for players of all abilities.

Course has declined in quality. Bunkers need investment and the irrigation works are still not complete. Despite investment in the driving range over the summer, the drainage issues remain. This means that the range won't open until 10:30 each day due to hand picking so don't expect to be able to warm up before a morning round!

Nice course. Tees are a bit scruffy and the bunkers are a bit thin on sand. Fairly wide fairways but overall we enjoyed our two rounds returning after our first visit last year. It was extremely windy but still managed to score 33 and 38 points. In the summer and if its still you could score high thirties. Greens are not particularly fast but some are faster then others.

The course was in great shape- the fairways are wide open and the greens are top class. It's also physically manageable, which is great. The club is always extremely welcoming to visitors and members, and they're always there to help you out.

Change your program!
Thornbury is great. I have reviewed before.I play here every week. Most weeks Golfshake
asks me AGAIN to review, and "how I found it".
Golfshake really ought to ask a lot less frequently.
The automatic program asking every other time I
visit is pointless and annoying. Please adjust.

Very enjoyable
Lovely course and fair test. Greens very good, bit bunkers need more sand and tending. Quite a lot of scrub areas particularly around the tees which could do with being cleared. Scrub under tree hazards also need clearing.Reviewer Rating

Good, challenging course

Great course to play

Good find
This course is owned by BGL which also owns my home course. The course is good with fairly wide fairways. Some are short par 4's and some are long par 4's. A couple of tricky par 3's well protected by bunkers. Starts with a par 5 and end with one. Definitely one to return to. Nice staff and excellent proshop.Reviewer Rating

Thornbury g. c. was great value for money.
the fairways were in good condition however the greens had recently been Holon tined.
this was the only slight down side.
The sausage and bacon bap was very filling hence with green fees great value for money.
Would definitely re-book.

Been better...
Taking away the fact there has been a lot of rain it was very wet in places , with balls plugging and disappearing on fairways, greens had been tined and filled some weeks ago ( apparently) but were still very sandy and some very difficult to play...Reviewer Rating
