Probably the best in the area
I played he in a visiting society and the course was the best i have seen it. The general condition is exceptional and great value for money. greens very slick and good definition all round. Our food was good and washed down with a cheeky pint or two. staff were excellent, friendly and attentive throughout. Our society will return again but i will return with a few others.Reviewer Rating

the fairways were in good condition however the greens had recently been Holon tined.
this was the only slight down side.
The sausage and bacon bap was very filling hence with green fees great value for money.
Would definitely re-book.

Always Open
Very good course with very fair layout for all standards of golfer. Mid to high handicappers will especially like the forgiveness in places, but danger still lurks for the wrong choice of shot or anything too wayward.Horrendous weather recently but Thornbury has remained open for all but the heaviest snow coverings, handles the water really well when most other courses would be closed. Great staff and friendly atmosphere in the clubhouse.

A great golfing venue
My friends and I really enjoy playing at here, we chose here over other nearby venues as its excellent value for money, the course is always in good condition regardless of the time of year. The club always seems to be upgrading their facility both on and off course. This is great to see and shows that they put money back int the club. See you soon!Reviewer Rating

Fantastic Place to play golf and socialise
I played Thornbury last weekend and although the course is wet the general condition is very good and much better that my home course. people do forget that the weather has been against golf courses and they expect the course to be dry, well its winter golf for a reason and that reflective in the price. I will continue to return and recommend to all golfers and those who want a bite to eat as the food is very good.Reviewer Rating

The Marlwood course was in excellent condition today. The greens were generally firm with very short grass but also smooth and predictable (however the balled stopped quickly from a high pitch). The fairways were wonderful (not that I was on them much). Some of the rakes at the bunkers need replacing as they are missing teeth. But the course is in lovely condition.
The Marlwood course has wide open fairways allowing you to hit the ball long and slightly erratically without punishment. This course will favor the longer hitter as there is only one hole which requires tactical layup shot, due to two hazards on hole 17.
I feel the course requires a twilight price as £14.50 is quite expensive for fading autumnal light (I got 15 holes done in good light, 2 holes is poor light and one hole in near pitch darkness (I'm stubborn)). Currently their are two local courses with green fees of £10.

The beautiful course in Thornbury is where I learnt to play golf so it will always provide me with nostalgic memories. The course is in good condition and is maturing nicely. It was busy that Sunday evening and the grass on the greens was a little flat making it hard to hold on the greens and making putting tricky. The rough was extremely dense on that day making it impossible to find wondering balls.
I love the views from the 8th tee across Thornbury and 15th tee across the severn. Some holes feel a little repetitive, for example the four par 3s are very similar yardages.

Nice course, greens were being treated which was the only downside but they should be very nice in a few weeks
